Auxillary Fans keep going on and off
I have a 2007 CRV. The auxillary fans keep going on and off even in the coldest weather. The other day I ran the car only 3 minutes in 30 degree weather and both fans came on for like 5 seconds then they go off. Now they keep going on and off while im driving. The temp guage is running on the cool side. Less than half on the gauge. Im not sure if this is normal.
This web-site stinks. Where are the experts when you need them? Too many posts get read and nobody answers. I will get the book for my car and answer my own questions.
The experts are at the dealership. Go pay the 90 dollar diagnostic fees, and have them tell you what's wrong. Although I'm familiar with this same issue due to others having the same problem on other forums, I'll let you find the answer in your book.
Most of us only have experience with 1st gen CR-V's.
I wish a dealer over here would charge me only 90 dollars. I would go there right now. Im not only talking about my post. People ask tech questions here and some posts have 150 reads and no answers. In time i will know everything there is to know about my engine and I wont have to depend on anyone.
I'll answer your question.
It's normal. When the AC is on (or it's in defrost mode) the fan will also come on. It does sound weird that it comes on for only a few seconds, but once it recognizes that the fan isn't necessary, it will shut itself. It's pre-emptively cooling the system. In defrost mode, the ac comp is being used for purposes of drying the air (otherwise the inside will be full of condensation).
Also, if you are the original owner, you may want to go have your compressor checked. They extended the warranty on that part, but if it's way too often, you may have a possibility of having Honda replace it free of charge. I just got my letter in the mail.

Don't blame the site for your own personal issues. Most of us on here ask first, if no one knows or can't help us then it's up to each individual to figure out what's wrong and come back on to elaborate what he or she did to resolve the issue. If no one on here has experienced your issues that's probably the reason why no one has replied.
