Default 99 civic blower motor resistor help!

Does anyone know how to replace this specifically in a '99? It seems that any other year it's an easy fix, just take out the screws that sit on top. However, I'm trying to replace the resistor in a 99, and its inside of a casing/housing which I can't seem to easily get into. Only the top of the resistor which plugs in is accessable, and removing the screws would cause the resistor to fall into the housing of the blower motor. Taking out the blower motor completely and trying to come up through the bottom seems almost impossible. Is there any easy way to do this or any way to take apart the housing that it resides in? This has been bothering me for a while now, how do I replace it?

Notice how the resistor can't be dropped in from the top, like any other model or year. Is there any easy way to replace it without taking apart the entire assembly?

It's actually not a resistor, it's a power transistor.

Unfortunately, like all car manufactuers, Honda has got onto the "lets over-engineered everything" bandwagon and electronics are at the top of the list.

You have to ask yourself, why would the change something like a blower resistor, that has worked for dame near ever on just about every car made.

And if that is not enough, lets put it in from underneath.

I can just see a bunch of design engineers sitting around looking for ways to make it as hard as possible, [and expensive] for the avarage guy to work on his own car.

vype09 you will need to drop out the blower motor and do it through that hole. 94
