HELP storing My Resurfaced Cyl Head. is it warped?
Hi i got my cylinder head d16z6 vtec resurfaced from the machine shop. the problem is that my plans for installing it and putting it on my engine block etc, is that i don't got enough money asap.
i got my cyl head resurfaced awhile ago like four or three months ago. now its sitting under my bed until i get some funds for my other stuff to go on my block etc...
the way i stored it is flat down, plastic wraped couple times and wraped again inside a black plastic bag. the bag is tapped up and under the plastic bag flat cyl head down i put a cardboard box.
IS it okay to leave my cylinder head like this??????
i spent already like 300.00 bucks on the head w/ resurfacing etc.
my friend told me to stand it side ways exhaust side???????
ive already put it in plastic around the cyl head and flat resurfaced side down??? outside the covered plastic cyl head bottom is cardboard .. for like 4 months now...
is my cylinder head safe.... is it warped. wtf... i need to know...
pls let me know............................
thanks.

The way you describe it sitting is fine. There's no real reason to worry about how to sit a head - it's cam and crank shafts you have to be careful with when storing.
It should be fine by the way you described it. In the future when you are working on your motor or a big change in your car. Be patient and save up your money. Like let's say you want to change you seats, door panels, dash, carpet, center console and steering wheel. Don't buy one by one, buy them ALL at once so everything wears out all at once and you really see the difference. Same with your engine, just save up your money and buy EVERYTHING at once even if it takes a year or two to save up. That's what i've been doing.
The main reason for not storing it flat side down is so it doesn't get scratched up. OP has it all sorts of wrapped up, so he's safe from scratches.
OO okay thanks i was very worried and stuff, i spent already like 300 plus on the head itself. so i will just leave it..
and for the crankshafts and the camshafts whats the best way to store it????
thanks....
