91 hatch w/ d16z6 wont rev past 3k
i just bought a 91 hatch with a z6 swap. however the guy i bought it from didnt do the complete swap. its still running on the obd0 ecu and harness. on my drive home it died on me, i waited like 10 min and it started up. so i figured it was the dizzy cause i could here the fuel pump. so i got an obd1 like a dummy and spliced in the old connector, after realizing that wasnt gunna work i replaced the cap, rotor, coil, and icm in the old riged one and put the connector back on. but the bottom pick-up (i belive for the cam sensor) has identical wires so i just kinda guessed. when the first configuration didnt work i swaped them and got the same result. if i step on the gas normal it boggs down and misses like crazy. if i down shift and the rpms go up passed 3k my tach goes nuts. i dont have a cel bulb so idk if it has codes. i feel like its in limp mode, please help. did i burn out that pickup?

I'm going to tell you that you have too much **** messed up with this one. First the issues it had when you bought it and the things you did to it in ignorance yourself that compounded everything.
The only thing I can tell you is to get an adapter harness and find a P28 ECU. Your wiring nightmare is something else altogether. Guessing when attempting to rewire your car? Not at all smart. Get a multimeter and learn how to use it.
I've also NEVER seen anyone solve the "can only rev to xxxx RPM" issue. usually because the swap is never done correctly and too much stuff, known and unknown, is wrong with it.

Fix the wiring before throwing parts that wont fix the problem i.e. fuel filter. If you dont know how and are guessing take it to someone else. I dont understand why you didn't test drive it before you bought it. it would have stalled and you could have dropped the price more from the clown who created the mess

Your right, I was getting frustrated with the whole thing so I f***ed it up. But I can't afford to get a p28 and the jumper yet. So I'm gunna have to deal with it I guess till then . It doesn't die anymore, so I just traded one prob for another.
I did test drive it, and it ran great. I drove it about an hour and a half before it died the first time. Then from there on it started to die more often.
