Hi
l have check engine light come on for a 98 accord vtech2.3 took it to AutoZone received code p1456
They said to change gas cap so I did and reset code after driving 100 miles
Light came up again p1456 noticed a gas smell coming from bottom of rear side left passenger side didn't see any gas on the ground still need to jack up car to get better look


has anyone had this problem and can tell me what to look for??

 

EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank System)

Probable Causes

Vapor canister saturated
Failed Vent Solenoid
Failed Purge Solenoid

Well you knocked off one possibility,the gas cap.

 

I found the problem it turn out to be the vapor can 2-way valve
the part was warped on top which cause a vapor leak took about
15 minutes to replace. No more gas smell or P1456 code
