Default Need Some Help

I have a 1999 Accord LX that has started having an issue. It started out as a slight miss when driving up a step grade. I thought I had bought some bad gas. Then the car would jerk hard every once and a while driving. Felt like you'd turned the car off then back on while driving down the road. The car jerked a couple of times on me while driving to work then died. Would start, but die if you put it in gear, then wouldn't start at all. Had towed to friend's and went on to work. Came back after work and the car started, but idled rough. Got really rough if you tried to give it any gas. I replaced the distributer and drove the car to get gas. Car ran fine, but would not restart after I filled it with gas. Tried another distributer. It started, but idled rough. Had towed to a guy that says he replaced the distributer again. Also replaced the cap, rotor and plugs. Still didn't run right. Says he had the car towed to another shop were they reflashed the PCM. The car drives fine, but if you rev the car too around 3K and let off the car dies. The guy claim that the car has a rod knocking and that the knock sensor is shuting the car down. He did show me that by turning the key off then on 3 times that only then would the car restart once it died.
Really need some advice.
Thanks
Rob

Do you have CEL lit? Any codes? Sounds like your "mechanics" were shooting in the dark. Did you use good plugs and HT leads?

The light is on and has been on for over a year. I was told it was an emissions code. Something like the charcoal canister. As for the plugs. I had put new ones in the car around 20K ago, along with a new cap, plug wires and rotor. I had the motor replaced about 16 months ago. The old motor had blown the head gasket twice in about a 2 year period. I bought the car from my son with a bad head gasket. I bought the motor and had it installed. Motor was suppose to have 82K on it when it was installed. I've put about 25K on the car. I never had a problem with this car sense the motor change, until now.

I'd suggest rescanning the CEL then.

You know that it's not going to magically change if there's additional codes right? You could be having a misfire on all 4 cylinders + bad O2 + EGR + anything else and you'd never know since you've left it unfixed.

If it is the knock sensor that's going to show up on the CEL as well.
