I've calculated off a site, that the Canadian retail value for a base model 1997 Honda Prelude with 89,000KM on it is 16,000$ even. I paid 18,900$ for it, about 4 months ago, but it came with a lot of aftermarket parts/etc, and was actually a good deal compared to the regular models that were for sale aswell. My car has:

Greddy Dunk Exhaust
AEM Pulleys
AEM cam gears
camshaft (I don't know what brand)
DC Sport header
Super APEXi AFC controller/gauge
HKS Intake
Clifford Avantgaurd III alarm

The problem is that I do not have receipts or really good knowledge for any of these parts, as I bought the car with the parts already on the car
All I have is a bill of purchase from the owner, listing it (without description) on a private sale.

I don't think he has receipts, and he has moved to New York so I can't get a hold of him anyway.

Am I going to be ripped off from my insurance company? The car is a write-off... and I fear come monday when they calculate a cost, it will be closer to 16,000$, instead of the desired 20,000$ that I am hoping for :/

Your not going to get money for them parts, just the car itself. Unless you had all your go fast parts,and rims, ext, insured with the car. They will just give you money for the car, but you can always buy the car back from them, at like 10% of what they payed you for it .

I am going to talk to a lawyer to make sure/etc.

 

take all of the useable performance parts off the car and sell them. If it's totalled anyway the insurance co. can pick the car up on a flatbed for that matter.

 

If you part it out tell me how much you want for the strut bar, headers, and the pulleys. Im in toronto to.

 

Hey if you do buy it back, i want your engine, transmission, axles, ecu, harness. I have an 89 Prelude Si , i want to swap in an h22a i'd need everything for the swap. I need to know how much you'd want for this because im on a limited budget.

I'd probably be interested in selling some parts. I'd have to see what is good and what isn't though. First I need to finish deals with the insurance company I guess.

Well it looks like I am going to be held 0% responsible for the accident! Which is good, no insurance increase, and full compensation (which is yet to be worked out).

Soon I'll be selling whatever I can salvage from the car:

DC Sport Headers
Sunk2 Disc Brakes/etc
H22A motor (89,000km on the motor)
BRAND NEW tiptronic transmission (about 5,000km on it, 1 year warranty, 10-11 months left)
GT Wing /w all accessories
Nuespeed Strut bar
Camshaft (don't know the brand yet, probably AEM)
One AEM cam gear, is that worth anything?
