It shuts off without any specific cause, it could be idling in traffic or driving down the highway. No sputter or anything, the motor just turns off and the green "key" light blinks a few times (4-6?). After that it will crank but wont actually turn back on for about 30-60 seconds. After whatever amount of time it is, it will crank and start right back up and be on its way. Could be in neutral or park. Does not have to be fully stopped to start back up, i have been able to get it going again while rolling down the highway.

The car has been doing this for about 6 months.. With that said, it could happen twice in a day or it might not happen at all for a month and then do it 1-2 times every day for 3 days then not do it again for a week. It's really erratic, but generally if it does it once, it will do it again within a few minutes of driving - then be ok after that.

Saw another person on here having a similar issue and he thinks his problem was a loose positive cable on the battery. That isn't the case with mine.




Edit; It has had the EGR code since i got it. I just found the tutorial on cleaning that out so i'm about to do that now to clear that code.

 

Shoot didnt realize this was my first post on here. I thought i had posted back in the day, now i feel like an assbag lol.

 

Usual suspects are main relay or ignition switch.

 

I told my nephew about the issue and the green blinking key light and he said that is the factory alarm light... So i'm thinking ignition switch could be the right direction because i imagine its linked to the alarm some how.
