crx steering spline coupling question.
Hello HT i have an 88 crx si with a 96 ls swap i had purchased the car with no motor. It had been sitting for awhile but looked pretty clean compared to other ones i had looked at so i jumped on it, when i got it home i noticed that the rear subframe where the steering rack sits had a nasty tear and i decided to replace rather then weld. The steering rack also looked like it had seen better days. I went to the junkyard and pulled the rack/subframe from an 88-91 civic dont remember what yr,( been working on a turbo project so its been a lil bit) i removed the old and installed the new, everything went in like butta. My problem is when i went to connect the column to the spline of the rack with the coupling it seemed like the coupling was too short. i adjusted the column as low as it would go and even then the coupling didnt bolt on like it was supposed to. i can get it bolted on part way and drive it but i dont feel safe and i cant adjust my wheel back up cause it will try and pull apart. Is there a longer coupling from another year or model that will fit? i know the integra couplings are larger in diameter so that wont work. Is there something i missed here? Thanks in advance.
i have searched around for answers but could only find a million companies trying to sell me crx couplings lol or power steering threads. i finally have a day off tomorrow and was going to try and knock it out.
Go on hondaparts now and look up a few different EFs. Once you get the parts number you can search it and see what other years/models are cross compatible. You should be able to quickly narrow down how many different steering joints were available.
