f22b1 engine rebuild
I am wanting to order a good engine rebuild kit, send it to a shop to get bored out, and have a friend help me with it. I found evergreen rebuild kits on amazon,
, is this a good kit? What would I ask of the shop when boring it out? I know it is .5mm over, but the rod bearings and a few others are .25mm over. Do I just ask them to bore it out .5mm? Also if anyone knows f any good performance or just any good rebuild kits, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Also I don't want to get a lower mile engine, I want to experience rebuilding an engine, and my friend is going to walk me through it, and do what I can't.
I would contact the seller on amazon and ask if the kit comes with those oversized components or if those are the oversize components available (ie ships with standard size unless noted by buyer...) Most kit's similar to this that i've come across have all oversized parts as optional.
that kit looks as good as any of the others out there. if you like the price and are comfortable with the responce you get when you ask about sizing, go for it.

best thing to do is wait on the rebuild kit until you talk to the guys at the machine shop. they won't be able to tell you for sure what sizes you'll need untill they get in there and give it a skim cut to see if it cleans up. I just took a damaged crankshaft to the machine shop and let the guy know what sizes (oversize) were available for that motor so he knew what to target as a finished size.
when you do a rebuild a lot depends on the condition of the motor before the rebuild begins. you may not need oversized bearings. unless you're just looking for a little more displacement you may not need to bore it over unless it's damaged or out of round. you may be able to get away with a quick hone and some standard replacement bearings. who knows until it's measured and inspected.
