My H22A Swap
Hello Guys....
Im new to this board but im a h-a.net user...
After reading some post like to post some pics that may be of interest to some...
Also maybe some of you guys that have done the swap may be able to answer some of my problems ive encountered....
The swap so far has gone pretty smooth, lots of unexpected expenses had to come my way
but its going to be worth it
Here are the pics of whats been done...
H22a Fits perfectly into the bay...
Here's a pic of the JASMA headers that came with the engine
Heres the good ol' F22B3 Engine
Some Side shots
Engine mount Drivers side for LHD Passenger side for RHD
(H22A this mount is the one that got shaved)
ECU and the additional wires for the VTEC
-------------------
Parts Replaced
-------------------
Front Engine Mount (Mine was cracked)
Valve cover gasket
Drive Shafts (Swap and go job)
Oil filter
Spark Plugs - might as well out NGK Iridiums..
Spak Plug Leads - NGK
Internal Coil Distrubutor Cap
Was going to do the timing belt but after I opened
the belt cover it was it very good nick...
------------------
Swap Problems
------------------
Preparing the wiring was the most diffifcult part...
My engine being a F22B3 (Non-VTEC), the wiring was slightly different to the standard F22B1 wiring...
I found i had no EGR solenoid? and i had this unusual throttle looking thing that was part of the air filter intake system...
(This ended up being not used)
The h22a ecu came with the plugs with the wires still on them so adding the extra wires was a breeze just taking out the pins using a sharp pointy needle...
Wires Added...
Knock Sensor, VTEC Solenoid, VTEC Pressure Switch, EGR Solenoid, Intake Air Bypass Solenoid...
Some of the colours of the wires didnt match the lude but still was able to figure out what was what...
PS, Alternator -> Prelude
A/C -> Accord
The high pressure hose I used the accord and used the upper half of the Lude...
Using the Prelude throttle cable, it turns out the accord on has a different head that connects to the accelerator...
(Left: Accord Right: Prelude)
What you guys do to over come this problem? I got the Prelude peddle so i might have to improvise...
Also just wondering i anyone here has got a F22B3 engine? cause ive notice there are some minor differences with the air intake system... there is an extra resonator box by the looks of it and has a solenoid to open a valve.. maybe a resonator....

gotcha... i got the same h22a How to but i dont think my version had that Note: bit in it... but yeah thanks for picking up my stupidity....
btw if you looked at the ECU pic its definately a OBDII right?

HOLY CRAP! Your car is right hand drive! I noticed that the fuse box was on the wrong side and the plastic cover that goes over the windshield wiper motor is opposite of mine. Where are you from?
Looks good - keep up the hard work!

yeah ive been adding the final touches to the ECU.... i got the engine from a local junk yard in Melbourne Australia.... the Complete engine was $2100 AUS that works out to be $1050USD hehehe...
nice swap. now lets get it up annd running....where did u get the engine from??? and how much???
I need somone to tell me what some of these sensors are...
just above the Fuel Rail there is a solenoid or something... i dont know what the name of it is?
Did all H22A's came with a Engine Coolant Temperature sensor??
The one im talking about is located where the upper radiator hose... My H22A originally didnt come with the sensor hose outlet... what i did was took the one from the Accord...
There is another sensor near the clutch linkage cable is... (the lower radiator hose) is this another ECT sensor??

Also after finding out i got a ODBII ECU... (gonna go swap it for a OBDI) but i assume the extra set of pins on the OBDII ecu are not used?
Thanks for any help

if you cant swap it. you can just get an obd2-1 harness. oh my look i sell them
anyways.. its a five speed RHD huh? thats cool..
ill have pics of mine done shortly. trying to figure out some oil leakage problems. i think its the cam seals. i snapped the new skunk2 cam gear in half

Just wanted to say hi, welcome, and uh... Nice swap! hehehee
Hopefully this afternoon... gonna be connecting the ECU up to the plugs...
Connect the vacuum hoses...
Put the intake back on.... connect the battery and crank da thing up...
To use the prelude throttle cable in my swap
I cut the end of the accord cable off and cut
a notch out of the plastic piece that snaps to
the accord pedal. I cut a notch bigg enough to
slip it onto the prelude cable and reinstalled on the
accord cable.

where abouts are you i wanna check yours out...
btw do you know who can join the PS hose (i.e cut the accord and connect the upper half of the Lude hose?)
