Icon2 Automatic Transmission Repair or Replace

The trans in my EJ1 is starting to slap into second and third hard.
Does any one know the cost to repair an automatic transmission?
Is it better to get a replacement or repair original?
If so, where?

How many miles on it? Last time ATF was drained and filled? How many miles between drain and fill? Any slippage going on?

I would definitely start with a 3x3 drain/fill before you worry about replacing the transmission. Use Honda OEM ATF.

That aside, it's more cost effect in the short term to replace the transmission with a used one rather than rebuilding it, unless you're doing the rebuild yourself. I definitely don't recommend rebuilding the transmission yourself unless you have experience doing so. Auto transmissions are complicated beasts.

The best option would be to replace it with a new one from Synchrotech, but that would also be the most expensive option. If you're planning on keeping the car until it dies, I would give Synchrotech a call.

127,000 miles

Every scheduled Honda maintenance done.

Slips a little when exiting the freeway. Coasting off exit ramp, when step on gas it revs like its slipping.
Foot off gas and re-engage no problem.

my car is doing the same thing. haven't done a fluid change in a while though. bought a the upper and lower shift solenoids cuz its a 94. probably the originals on it. after a fluid change, i'll see if that helps before i put the new solenoids on. thx for your post
