Icon2 Replacement motor options 2001 EX

I need a replacement motor for my 5-speed 2001 EX sedan.

Should i go with a HMO motor for $850 or a full rebuilt motor for $900.

HMO has a great rep and good warrentys on there motors.

My concerns on the rebuilt 0 mile motor is the quality of parts used and installation.

Any input would be appreciated.

sorry i meant to just say their motors arrive pretty well, meaning that everything is in good working order. also that my friend has bought a few from them and has n oproblems with them. if you get a rebuilt motor, though, i would make sure that they only use HONDA OEM parts and nothing else. the only problem i can see is if you were to get one from HMO you would have to deal with CA emissions laws and with a motor from HMO, it is most likely going to be a jdm motor with a jdm VIN and to me, it would seem like more of a hassle to do all that paperwork with the DMV. If that shop would rebuild the motor already in your car, then i would go that route. unless it is totally demolished.

Motor is definitely rebuildable, I'm still driving it.

They are not useing OEM parts on the rebuild.

It's an aftermarket rebuild kit they would be using on my D17.

That's my main concern on the full rebuild.

damn... well, i would only do it if they can offer a honda rebuild. if not, i know a guy that can rebuild it. he's a legit honda technician and owns his own honda/acura shop. problem is, its all the way over here in valencia. 1.5 hours northwest of you. if you wanna call him and ask for him i can PM you the number. ask for jon and tell him abraham with the long black hair and nose ring sent you. hahaha. he should know who you're talking about.
