Vtec is not hitting at all.
Hello everyone. I am new to Honda-Tech, but not new to the honda world. Anyway i have a 95 Gsr that the vtec is not hitting at all it seems like. The car has 200,000 miles on it and it has all original internal parts. It has not been beat up or raced. So i am just taking suggestions on what you might think it is. Or if you think it might just be that the engine is just getting old. Thanks for the input.
have you checked your oil level?
have you checked for codes? is there anything else on the car that you know of that is not functioning correctly?
was any work done to the car prior to this fault?
if no codes, and everything else works fine, jump the solenoid and see if it engages

Well i got the car with about 180,000 from an old lady and she had just have the t-belt replaced. But it has not worked sense i have had the car. No codes and the oil level is good. I guess i can jump the solenoid and see if it works. Any ideas is the solenoid tests out good?
If it revs that high vtec is working. There shouldn't be a "nitrous kick in the butt feel", B18C1 vtec is lower as well than most vtec engines at 4400 rpms and the IABs at around 5800 RPMs.

as mentioned, it probably is working. i remember when i had my b18c swap and thought the same. it wasn't like my friends b16. in actuality, vtec is supposed to be a smooth, almost unnoticable engagement
Just to clarify something I said but the p72 ECU stock VTEC activation point for the B18C1 is lower than most vtec ecu's not necessarily the engine itself as those points can be altered with different ECU software.
