Default EG Vera's build/timeline thread

What's going on honda-tech. I would like to share my progress with my coupe since I got her from day one until now. I bought the car in 2008 and got it for 1600 dollars in NJ. It came with a ls swap already in it and 4 blow struts. I saw potential and also liked the car so I went for it.

The first thing I did was buy new suspension (ksports) and put my hid kit and black rota slips.

Then I blew my stock Ls tranny and put in a B16. I also just changed the look with the rims for the most part, since I still daily drove the car.

I had a few swaps in the car but I had been building a LSV set up with 13:1 compression pistons, skunk 2 pro 3 cams, and the usual off the store shelf parts. The car made 234 on E85. I also started to get into road racing at the same time I was finishing the build so I decided to buy a set of sparco torino seats and get some enkie rpf1s.

I decided to take my car to Honda day at Atco to race and to my surprise my 1/4 time was horrible. I ran a 14.7, 14.5, and a 14.3 in the 1/4 mile. I was using a set of mickey thompson drag radials too. I got so upset that I ended up focusing on drag racing now to better my times and prove to myself that I can drive my own car. I went to the track a few more times and ended up getting my time down to a 13.5. I still wasnt happy but I knew now that I still needed more seat time and to also get the weight of the car down because it was 2424 with me in it.

Some more time went on and I ended up trading my entire b series set up for a complete k series set up. It was a stock k20a2. It was july 4th weekend and none of my friends knew I did the trade except one because I needed help to carry the swap and put it into my Honda Fit at the time lol. I did the swap the same weekend and had the car running about a week later. I also picked up at set of slicks (23x8x13) and got right to work. I went to the track as much as possible. Oh and also the motor when tuned now made 215whp on 93 octane. My 1st pass was a 13.5 but with enough dedication and hard work i made the car drop some weight to 2180 and also got my personal best with that swap at a 12.3. Now I was feeling alot better because I learned how to Pre Load and also how to Power Shift and get a decent 60ft. I was even particapating at some events and making it into the qualifying rounds.

This all happened during 2011 and for 2012 I was ready to go 11's. A friend of mine was selling his k24a2 that had skunk 2 stage 3 cams package in it. I traded him my k20 long block for his plus I put cash on top. I put the swap in and everything went smooth until one of my friends cracked my block by over tightening my oil pressure switch in the back of the block. I didnt find out until a week or so later when I started the motor and the next moring I found a huge puddle of oil under my car. I tried everything from JB weld to actually having 2 different people weld it and again more JB weld. I literally took the motor out and put it back in 5 times in 2 weeks. I was trying eveything to make it to Honda day at atco for that year. Things with that didnt work out so I found a bare k24a4 block from another friend and I took my swap out one more time and started taking it apart to reassemble it in the new block. 1st time doing a kseries so I was a bit nervous. I took as many pictures of everything to make sure I didnt forget anything. I think I did a good job because thank god it started on the first try and has been running like a champ ever since. I got the car to weigh at 2010 pounds with me in it and I didnt do a fuel cell or any carbon fiber. I had lexan windows, fully cut doors, and fully gutted interior. I left my dash because I still like my car to look like a car when I drive it. My k24 makes 253whp and using a set of 24.5x8x13 inch slicks I ran a new personal best of 11.6 at 116mph with a 1.5 60ft. Now i am happy with my time and experience and I have learned alot since day 1. I am currently making my coupe back into a street legal car and I will be road racing it (like I planned) for 2013.

Here's a few links to the videos I have of my track passes with both the k20a2 and the k24a2.

I finally recieved my sparco seat in the mail and also ordered a new steering wheel to go along with the interior 1/6/2013
I still need to order a few things from honda like the door lock bars for inside the door and a few clips etc to be able to put my door panels on and also wire up my radio again to have some music while I drive the car. A whole bunch of little things lol but I lowered the car some and still need to go further and even everything out. It's just been way to cold to work on it. Also changed my LCAs to black BWRs to go with a black and red theme. give me your opinions to what you think. I also had all of my glass windows put in and with my luck as i was carrying the rear windshield the wind came and i accidently hit the window against my house and it shattered so I had to buy a new one. It's got a ugly faded purple tint lol but at least all my windows are in and its looking like a car again.

A few more things I still need to do are
-tighten up the bumper since it's being held with zip ties lol
-put the ASR sway bar on
-And get a front lip. Any opinions? I'm leaning towards a spoon style lip.
-Put on exhaust
-remove ugly tint

Hoping to be able to update this thread a little after the snow clears up from this storm ny had. I was able to pick up a spoon replica lip and a type r shift boot for my interior console. I also ordered my b.s little parts I needed like the door lock bars and window roller handles etc and also excited about some Kosei K1 wheels that are on there way. I'll post pics of everything soon and also of everything on the car.

The wheels came in faster than I thought. I got a chance to put them on so check it out. I still need to lower the car more and even it out along with other things. more updates to come.

This weather needs to change and get warmer, 10-18 degrees is not fun to work in lol. I was able to drop the front a bit and also put on the spoon replica lip, but other than that nothing else. It got dark and i couldnt feel my hands lol.

Heres a quick pic I took with my phone to show you what it looks like. Hopefully if it doesnt snow/rain this weekend I can finish up the other things and post up a good amount of better quality pictures.

No luck with the weather, its been raining all day and looks like rain for tomorrow also, but I did get a chance to get gas quick for the car so I took a better pic of the car as it sits now before I put it in my garage. Hope you like it.
