Feb 1991 Honda Civic GL over heating problem
My engine is twin carb February '91 ED6, engine code D15B4
I was told by my local auto shop that no workshop manual was available because it was a rare engine.
The problem is the engine temperature is rising to maximum on temp gauge and drops as fast as it rises for no apparent reason and this an infrequent occurrence. At low speeds it does not happen i.e around 60km/h anything upwards to 100km/h encourages it to happen.
The radiator has be removed, the core has flushed, the exterior fins have been blown, thermostat has been removed, engine has been flushed.
The problem still exists. I am looking to replace my water pump and possibly the engine block temperature sensor.
Has anybody with the same engine had this or similar problem and/or knowledge/tips in changing the water pump and its location as I do not have a workshop manual.

replace the temp gauge sender unit sensor. I dont know the technical name for it, but I believe its the one prong sensor under the distributor.
Did you bleed the coolant? The water pump is driven by the timing belt under the plastic cover at the front of the motor (US drivers side).
