Icon2 2010 Accord V6 intake misfire?

Hi all I'm new to this site. I own a 2010 V6 Accord with 25,000 miles since new. When driving on the highway between 75-80 mph in ECO mode, when I push on the gas to pass the ECO light goes out and I get what sounds to be a misfire from the intake manifold. It does happen all the time. I would 75% of the time. It just doesnt make sense to me? Has anyone else expieranced this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could it be an issue with the VCM? Could the pin that engages the rocker arm be sticking? Any feedback from Honda techs would be greatly appreciated.

To me it sounds like the engine is pinging... What grade gas r u using. If it was a misfire most of the time it will flash the mil. Also check your spark plus specially rear bank. For oil fouled plugs.

Thanks for the reply Qfactor. I'm using plus grade gas 89 octane.
I'm having a hard time understanding why it only happens when I'm in ECO and I give it gas to pass? After I give it gas the car pulls hard and has plenty of power.
It's going to Honda dealership soon should I ask them to pull info from ECU? The cars computer should have recorded any misses? Thanks again for replying.

No plugs replaced yet or ECM updates yet. With only 25k highway miles I would be surprised if the plugs are fouled? It's almost due for an oil change so I will bring it in to dealer.

Yes I have owned the car since new. The update was never done to ECU. I guess I can insist the dealer does the update? Car goes to same dealer when maint minder comes on since new so Honda cant say car wasn't properly maintained. What is pgnfi?
Other thank the intake backfire on highway the car runs strong.

I had cylinder 5 sparkplug crap out at 22K miles for my 2012 model V6. It would run fine, then eventually when coming to a stop it would shudder, or idle funny. Didn't take long for it to hit the shi**ers. They do not re-flash your ECU they just Erase the codes, don't be fooled by the reflashing ECU part. If its under warranty take it back to them and ask them to check the sparkplugs, because one of the pointy tips on the plugs is probably missing which is what happened to me. Check engine light came on and ran like crap until I fixed it myself. Didn't want to wait at Honda for 1-2 hours for them to fix the damn thing. $22 fix, the plugs are not cheap and they are hard to find in stock.

There is a TSB on this for the J35 V6. This happened to my Ody at about 55K+ miles, and it's a common problem and "easy" fix, like you described. Honda will update with new software. I read (somewhere) that the new software is different in that it makes the VCM less sensitive (so maybe fraction less MPG?).

What you did was I was think about doing on my Accord. However, without the new software, the "problem" may come back. Changing spark plugs is like buying time.

My Ody cost me about $160. $120 was the check up fee. Rest was the plugs (2), fees + taxes. So yes, I could buy a lot of spark plugs for $160 and just replace them.

I may end up going that route, or not to see what will happen.

Went dealer today for oil change and told him the car has an intake backfire when cursing on why at 70-80 mph in Eco mode and when accelerator you hear a pop. I have a Takeda short ram air intake in the car. Dealer gave me a bunch of BS saying they can't look at car because it was modified. Their computer can't diagnose problem because of the aftermarket intake. They want me to pay out of pocket for them to check car out. I told them that's BS it should ge covered under warranty. I'm trading it in for a Nissan Altia V6. mire options and better car for the money without the crap VCM? Will never buy another Honda again.

Nearly all dealers are not aftermarket friendly. You should expect that.

I put away the K&N everytime it goes in, for any reason, even if it's not engine related. It just help me avoid all the "BS" that you experienced.

Yes, Altima SE is a great option, and it was my choice before the Accord. Fan of the VQ engine. However, I can't get past the CVT. If you are getting it used, the older gen CVT really suck *****. The current (next gen CVT) version I read has a better feel at all positions expect WOT.

Check spark plugs 1-4 to see if any are fouled. I see them all the time on the oil burning v6s

My 09 V6 had a "shimmy" type feel at low speed, 25-35mph and 65-70ish. Around 1500-1800 rpm the car would shutter like it couldn't decide to go into Eco mode or not. I found a recall on a website for the ECU upgrade/re-flash and took it to the dealer. 20 min fix and problem solved. I'll be changing the plugs when I do the oil next week just to be good. The car only has 50k so I was surprised, bit I'm glad it went away. Dealer charged $75 for the re-flash, I didn't do the $140 diagnostic because I had no check engine light and I knew nothing would show. Good luck.
