Default B16 Generation Differences

I just picked up a First Generation B16 block, crank, rods and oil pan for $40 and i was wondering if I would be okay putting a newer B16 head on it and running it, or if i should get a newer B16. The block is in really good shape. I know the transmission is the cable transmission but other than that i really can't find any other differences. What are the differences between the generations besides the transmissions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not much difference:

-fan switch is on the back of the block on obd0
-us obd2 b16a has crank fluctuation sensor on the oil pump
