Default Went to the strip for the first time...and well, you get the idea :\

first trip ever to any strip today (carlsbad) not much i can say as far as the cars over there, they were all SWEET !

only got in 3 runs, before it got real full with cars.....maybe next week

Run #1:

60FT: 2.764
330FT: 7.068
1/8ET: 10.437
1/8MPH: 73.04
1/4ET: 15.807
1/4MPH: 90.77

Run #2

60FT: 2.989
330FT: 7.519
1/8ET: 10.942
1/8MPH: 72.14
1/4ET: 16.392
1/4MPH: 85.90

(no comment here, heh)

Run #3 -> Best of the day (yet the machine went dead and only got 1/4 ET and MPH)

15.090@92.33mph

now my question judging by the 60ft's and the mph on the best run, whats my car 'capable' of? and how did i fare?

still a newbie, and alot to be learned at the strip, but hopefully with some time, ill fare somewhat decently

for listening.

The mph shows low 15's but with that 60ft I wouldn't judge those numbers. Your launch needs serious work or you have some really bad tires. Try some more and don't launch so hard. Also learn to moderate the wheelspin. In other words, if it's spinning and bouncing off the rev limiter let off a little

im running pirelli p700z's

first 2 runs, i just dropped it at 3k

last run, i feathered at around 3.3/3.4k and let her up

i didnt get a chance to lower the tire pressure either, hopefully with some more work i can see at least high 14's.....

Your car is more than able to pull some 14's easy. Just practice the launch and if money allows try and get some drag radials or some type of better tires

im pretty sure i`ll see 14's next time, just sucks i decided to leave when i was ooh so close

im going to def. play with the pressue in the tires (22-24 maybe) next time, and master the launch a bit more, in turn i should be more than satisfied (crosses fingers) !

overall, it was a great experience.....! being in front of so many fast cars (novas,ss's,cobras) modified z06's, lightnings, 12/13 second n/a civic hybrids, a handfull of supras, was a tad overwhelming. hehe

ya im pretty off, but the 60ft's in the 15.8/16.3 runs, indicate mid/high 14's are possible (with 2.2/2.3 60's).....sucks i didnt get anything more than et and et mph on the 15 flat run

I have never seen 60 foot times that horrible on any car.

i know i know......

a question to the veteran draggers here, on my last run i feathered at 3k, and got the best of the day.....now, should i try raising the revs up a tad? everyone is sitting here telling me i should be at 4k+ feathering the gas, dunno...want to have something concrete down as far as a launch goes, because im sure the lanes will be packed next week as well

TIA

Even with my brothers car (b16/CRX) he couldn't hook up right so I drove it. First time I just launched at 2k and chirped and as soon as it bogged I floored it. That way will always get a 2.3-2.4 60ft but will hurt your et since you don't have a very aggressive launch.
I always try and drop it at RPM that will spin enough so when it stops spinning your right before vtec crossover. It all depends on the tires and track though.

I never feather or slip the clutch. If you can't get traction you can do the same thing with the gas pedal. Find an RPM where you can launch and find traction. You don't want to bog. On street tires you can spin them and just feather the pedal right under your rev limiter until you find traction...once they grab hammer it. NEVER shift into 2nd while you are spinning. You will just bog.

Don't slip the clutch...drop it and let the pressure plate slam the disc. This will also save your disk. This technique has gotten my 2700lb car down to 2.1-2.2 60fts on 15 inch shitty all season tires.

My friend uses the same technique in his GSR and ran 14.7 stock and 13.72 @ 104 with a 2.1 60ft with his 6psi Jackson blower. We never slip the clutch...especially with a stock GSR motor when it should be easy to find traction with only 150whp.

Oh yeah....stay away from the burnout box. Drive around it. If you have to go through it, roll all the way past it and then do your burnout. Never do your burnout in the water...always past it. That just throws water up into your wheel wells and then it drips on your tires.

When I run slicks, I roll past the box and drop the clutch in 2nd gear. Your clutch may not handle that abuse...but it works if it holds.

what days is carlsbad open? I wanna go there...

Work on those 60fts!!!! I do consistent 2.3-2.2 on my shitty stock goodyear intrepids or whatever the hell came on vx wheels stock hehe.

B18c1 in a vx...ur si is heavier i believe....anyways...here are some times I've gotten to help give u an idea.

@ Palmdale (LACR)-

14.9 @ 93 MPH (2.3 60ft)
14.8 @ 92.5 MPH (2.2 60ft)

@ Sears Point

14.4 @ 97 MPH (2.3 60ft) Windy day

I really hate it when shifting into second...feel like I'm slowed down the greatest from loss of traction.

I think if I hit a 2.2 60ft @ Sears on a good day...I could have been 14.2-14.1. I'll be trying my slicks very soon though...now that I have a new clutch

ya i avoid the water, i just back up a bit rev to 5k and drop it to the line, to clean the tires up a bit.......

"NEVER shift into 2nd while you are spinning. You will just bog" exactly what i did on those first 2 runs, then just stayed away from the whole dropping the clutch method, heh...im just pissed off, that with decent 60`s im good for 14.7/8's, and that i didnt come too close, oh well practice practice, it will be.

RK, carlsbad is open every saturday, racing starts at 1 till it gets dark.
