my car came with an amp kit in it leftover (90 GS)
so my car has wires from an amp kit still left in it and i'm wondering if i should use it or buy another new amp kit and start from scratch? would you trust the wiring of the previous owner or just do a new install. all that's missing seems like the fuse and wire connecting to the battery, but looks like he taped the power and rca cables together. i see all wires in the trunk area and even where the ground was connected to. i'm working on a budget so i might just use these wires.

Depends on how much power you are going top run and what kind of rca they are. What are you trying to put in the car?
ok solved. some i'm gonna get a new amp kit. i think the power wire was 4 gauge but not sure. i guess next question is what sub should i get with the 500/1v2? it's going in a 90 GS hatch. i got polk audio 6.5" all around running off of an alpine deck.
The 500/1v2 is a 500W mono block amp, so look for a 400-450W sub, a 10" would work well in a slot port box.
What kind of music do you listen to?
Also a 4ga power cable will work fine for the 500/1, just pull it, make sure there are no connections, run it from the batt. down that side of the car, you may want to replace the RCAs, run them down the center of the car, [away from any power leads] and keep it as short as possible.
Depending on what you have for a fuse holder now, you may want to replace it, us an ANL fuse and fuse holder, and get the post/stud type fuse holder so you can solder ring terminals to your power cable to make the connections and forget about any of that "pimp my audio system" gold crap, there is not enough gold on any of that to short circuit the dynamo on a fireflies ***, find a PICO dealer and get brazed seam ring terminals of the correct size, gauge and stud size.
Although better then most, still crap...

would i run into having too much bass depending on the woofer i get since the polk's are just running on the deck and my car being a hatch and all?

Like I said, "pimp my audio system" it is cheap because it is crap, worst part is the AUG fuse and cinch type fuse holder the last thing you want to do is add resistance to your power cable, especially to a sub amp, that type of fuse and fuse holder adds a lot of resistance.
You also must have missed part of the description, "is designed for lighter current loads" a 500W sub amp is not considered a "light load"
Also for best SQ and SPL you should be looking for 100% oxygen free copper, not aluminum with 10% copper.
For less then that $26.99 you could get an ANL fuse and holder and a good quality RCA and just reuse the 4ga you already have...
Find this kind of fuse holder...

and a 150A ANL fuse. 94

Wow. I might have to start selling amp kits on ebay. I am not a fan of there rca cables. Had a member buy them and both sets were bad. There really cheap. And when I did get to try a set of there good cables. I could not get rid of unwanted system noice. So I guess its a hit and miss. I seen some of there stuff work out great in other cases. Take fcm advice. If you need a good amp kit. Please let me knkw.
