Rattle coming from distributor...
Ill check that screw tomorrow...thats what I was thinking as well. Either that or the rotor was somehow damaged.
The distributor has about 95k on it now.

easy enough diagnosis...
Remove the distributor and see if you can "wobble" the shaft...
If so...time for a new distributor assembly... (approx $75 new)....

The bushing is wasted. It will soon create enough heat to either melt your rotor off or damage your position sensors. The car will stall and not restart. You need to buy a dist. sub assembly from the dealer. I recomend you use honda parts because most aftermarket or rebuilds don't last long. $75 is wrong they run 300-400 if I remember right.
****...
This is unrepairable I guess if I took it apart?
Time to crack open my helms to understand what exactly is busted
Couldnt I just snag a used distributor, or does the problem go further than that?

Sure you could by a used one. If you unbolt the dist and twist it where the cam does you will see quick whats wrong with it.
all honda acura DIZZY? wear out. I guess all of those distributors I sold during the four years I worked at the Honda dealer were horribly over priced. Or maybe someone is talking out of there ***.
we had this sound on my '96.
basically the shop (I couldn't work on cars back then
) tested the bearing temp. and said it was about to roast.
they paid something like $250 for a whole new assembly because you can't buy just the part from Acura.
you should be able to do better.....but verify that this is the case.

I have this same exact problem on my 97 LS. I bought a used 99 LS distributor and swapped mine out. I still get the same rattle, nothing seems loose on my old distributor, help!

dude i get the same sound on my zc, only when i first start up and my car isn't warm....it sounds like its only coming from the belts though...still the dizzy?

When I got the motor, one of the CELs was a positioning sensor,( the one IN the distributor ) so I just took another apart and it had the same number on it, and it seems to work fine. I know that the rattling is there though but no CEL.
I'm also getting a oil leak there, aroung that area by the cam seals, distrib, vtec solenoid... Could this be my prob?

Yeah, i'm just kinda waiting for it warm up a little bit here. Last week was getting pretty nice, but I had to work so i had no time. But Once it gets a little warmer, I will invesigate further. I will unbolt it and take a short vid of it and post it and see if it's the same problem everyone else is having.
