ef/d16-y8 mini-me - need help with wiring the harness
well i just got me an ef for a project, and it has a d16 with a y8 head on it..the previous owner tried re-doing the harness cause it was messy, but in the process of doin it he messed up somethin and now it wont start so if i wanted to do it myself i know i need a harness, but is there a link or somethin on how to wire the harness up to make this mini-me work..thanx for yall help..
The amount of work required will depend on how much the previous owner attempted to modify. Was the car successfully converted to run previously? If so was it hardwired or done via a jumper harness? Which OBD system/ECU is it currently using? What specifically was that person trying to clean up?
Wiring an EF is kinda like banging Pamela Anderson:: You dream of it, but know you cant match up to Tommy Lee's girth, and if you do it wrong, youll end up with Hepatitis. HAHAHAH At the end of the day tho, its just tossing a hot dog down a hallway.
Back, to our regularly scheduled program:: Id assume you know, what most connectors and sensors are on your harness. Id suggest getting an ECU pinout, and a firewall harness pinout, some needles to poke wires/conn., a multi meter and a friend. Theres some pretty big grommets to fit a test lead through on the firewall. Start at the ecu make sure you have connections all the way to the firewall plug, then do the same for the engine harness. A wire is a wire, but a harness isnt just a wire. Id never want to trust someone elses harness if its not starting....

man^^love the the quote, hella funny, well i do have the jumper harness and i have to llok at the ecu to see wat it is again but it did run and everythin was fine but ya i wanted to do it on my own to make it look clean, all i know is that the distributor harness was converted and that the resistor box was not used all the wires that ran through there was sautered together and everything else was pluged right...but ill look at the ecu i just know it has a jumper harness
