Default lightened flywheel???????

This is a dumb question, but is there anyway to get my car to rev up quicker without getting a lighter flywheel and sacrificing top end?

Why not get a lighter flywheel like 12lbs. just dont go crazy with a 6 or something like that. It will make it a pain as a DD

well i read that the ap1 fly wheel is 13lbs from factory. i just got a new clutch and they had to resurface it so it's probably lighter now.

Why do you want to rev faster? You could get all new lighter internals.

Might be a few grams lighter?

I have a 7lb flywheel in my DD and it's not hard to drive at all.

I run competition clutch 11lb flywheels in both my civic and s2000.

S2000 was already responsive, but it definitely is a little quicker.

And you can always go kpro or whatever aftermarket EMS, get it tuned for better performance.

and if you want other ways for better acceleration, get some forged wheels that weigh about 8lb less per wheel compared to stock rims.

replace entire exhaust system with aftermarket, depending on price you can definitely buy some expensive lightweight header and exhaust.

get some higher compression pistons

remove parts from car to lighten it up

there are many ways to improve acceleration.

I put a lightweight pully on the Z and that made it rev noticably quicker. Best way for fast revving is a lightweight flywheel. I got the Ultra Lightweight Competition flywheel and that thing is insanely light. I think it was like 6-8lbs or something. Drives just fine for DD too. They also had a normal lightweight one a little heavyer at about 11lbs.

Sometimes I pull the clutch and flywheel right off and just rev it in my driveway all day.

You can get anything that's rotating off the crank and get a lightened version to mimic the same effect since they all spin together. Get a lightweight driveshaft (aluminum or carbon) and it'll mimic the lightened flywheel pretty good and it's less of a pain in the *** than swapping the clutch.

Also I would suggest gears, it might not rev faster, but it'll bring on the power sooner to make the car a bit peppier.

you're an idiot. Maybe try talking to a performance shop first.

A set of 4.56 or 4.77's is the best bang for the buck for a N/A car

The lightweight crank pulley is probably the best bang for the buck. Removing any rotating mass from the engine should improve "reving" quickly

LWFW + LW Crank Pulley = disaster.

I've got a 9lb LWFW in my car, love it most of the time. Sometimes it sounds like a diesel engine at idle or when i'm going slow ~30 mph in 5th gear it makes almost a grinding noise.

I've read that for every 5lbs of rotational mass removed from the engine it's like removing 250lbs from the car in first gear, 200 in 2nd, 150 in 3rd, 100 in 4th and so on.
