Outside mirror strange part numbers
I need a passenger-side outside mirror for my 97 Accord LX wagon. (But I certainly don't want to pay the OEM price.) For most colors the OEM part numbers are identical for the LX sedan and the LX wagon. But for my car (Frost White) the sedan and wagon part numbers are different. The fact that the numbers match for most colors says to me that any LX sedan mirror should physically fit my LX wagon -- I would just have to paint it to look good. Does that make sense, or am I missing something? Why would the sedan and wagon part numbers be different for a white mirror but the same for green and blue mirrors?
I don't know what the differences, if any, there may be. But if there is enough of a difference that requires its own part number then it probably got one. There could be slight differences in the mirrors curve to better suite the 5dr vs 4dr. And if either can work on either car, Honda may be substituting the 4dr or 5dr component for both cars if a dedicated 4dr or 5dr component is no longer available but will interchange and function.
