Okay so I swapped in a B20/vtec into my 99 CRV this weekend. It seemed to drive just fine until today when the rear U-Joint shattered. Only then did I realize that only the rear wheels were driving/moving the car! I took the drive shaft off and put the car in gear and only the transfer casing that connects to the drive shaft moves. Checked front axles and they're in nice and tight, but no rotation. It worked just fine before I swapped in the new motor. Anyone have any clues to what my issue could be? It's freezing cold outside and in order for me to work on my car I have to have it towed to someone's house.
Oh and let me add...when not in gear the rear transfer case still rotates. the only time it stops is when the clutch is pressed down all the way. could something be messed up in my tranny?

the rear wheels are driven off of the final drive gear in the tranny. my guess is somethings messed in your front differential if only the rear is moving.
good luck funding drive shaft parts for cheap. honda only likes to sell the whole thing and its ~$600. they get bent at the junk yards due to idiots carrying them around on forklifts.

looks like I'm going to have to take work off tomorrow and take a look underneath to see what's actually going on. I did take off the rear transfer case off the transmission in order to drop the motor/tranny in since it wouldn't clear with it on. I'm wondering if maybe I may have put it in wrong?? I don't know how I would have done that since there's only 4 bolts that hold it to the actual transmission...

even if you do remove it, it shouldn't mess anything up correct? Installation of it is just aligning the gears inside along with the dowel pins. I don't see why undoing that piece would cause all of these issues...unless I'm totally wrong that is.

not the rear bumper, but the transfer case that connects to the drive shaft. I'm not sure what could have caused it...I'm wondering if my input shaft bearing busted since I did notice before the u-joint completely broke what sounded like marbles in a can. We'll see tomorrow when I take everything apart.
