how long can you wait to replace the timing belt after 90k miles?
like the question says...how long have you waited to get your timing belt / water pump replaced after you hit the 90k mile mark?
i'm close to 90k now...but i want to wait a little while to get more $$$ to pay for it.

I have 140,000 miles and the only maintenance that has been done is a dealer-style "tune up" recently. I think I am running on stock belt and pump; can someone please tell me if I'm mistaken, if the dealer did replace my belt and pump and whatnot? 'Cause it doesn't look bad.

i'm pretty sure the dealer "tune up" didn't include the replacement of the timing belt and water pump...because that adds some serious $$$ to the cost of the servicing...
While we are on the topic of changing Timing belts, I'm changing mine too but I'd like to get an opinion from everyone on the price. I got quoted at about $500, but that includes: timing belt, water pump, oil seals, gaskets, cam seal, labor, and I think also the other belts. Is it worth it??

I'm at 88k now. I'm going to ask my Acura dealer how much they want to do the belt and water pump. I'm sure it'll be astronomical, so I'm thinking about doing it myself... I guess the only hard part is breaking the crank pulley bolt loose. Anyone know if it's possible to do it with a breaker bar?
how in the hell can you wait so long to change your timing belt? I change 'em at 60k, timing belt and water pump, as religious as a sunrise. On my old CRX HF, the OEM water pump gave way at 140k, throwing the belt. That was a non interferance motor - B series aren't.

. I have a buddy that broke his t-belt on a b18a. None of the pistons or valve were damaged, threw a new belt on and it runs pretty decent.
Pulled my engine at 139K with the original timing belt and water pump. The belt was glazed to hell, didn't have much longer. And the water pump was leaking like a sieve. 49K miles overdue and no major problems,

I think I'm going to wait until about 100k to change mine...maybe a little before. i have a bent rim and a chewed up rim and worn tires...so i'm using it as an excuse to talk myself into buying new rims/tires in a package deal. but the only part of the 90k mile service that i'm going to pay to have done is the timing belt / water pump and the valve adjustment. i can to the rest of it on my own. but i've done timing belt work before...on a VW...and it was terrible
. it's really hard to keep everything lined up at TDC so you don't confuse the timing when you're taking off all the belts.

i waited until 116,xxx miles
BUT,
I took my teg for a Complete Timing Belt Package Yesterday to the
Dealer.
Total cost $741.57 (plus)
Valve adjustment $75.00
Grand ToT $843.72
But my teg runs a lot better, feels really healthy now.

I just called a few Acura dealers and most are $525-$550.. but I found one dealer that does it for $410. Includes timing belt and accessory belts and water pump and tensioner.. plus i found a 10% off coupon on their internet site.. looks like I'm going to the dealer this time..
I bet they tell you you can't use the coupon on that price b/c the normal price is $455, and they quoted you with the 10% already taken off.

replace it as soon as possible... but im sure youre belt will hold up for awhile longer. just inspect it.
Wait and let us know...
You should have replaced it 10K miles ago at least! Unless you baby your car.

i'm not sure i baby my car...but i don't drive it really hard all the time either. i don't rev it up really high unless i have a good reason to. right now i'm at about 77k miles...so i think i have a little time to build up some $$$ for the servicing...
damnn i have a mechanic that will do it for 120 plus parts. hes done it before on b series engine and he does a good job. the valve adjustment ill do myself.
btw...obviously the timing belt and water pump is gets changed but what about the belt tensioner? does that need replacing?

when i had my checkup at 88k miles they said make sure u do it aorund 90k miles cus if ur drivin it an break you could totally mess up ur engine. dont know what exactly. . but its just not a good thing. but found out the people who i was buying it from did the 90k at 87k miles. . . so that worked out nicely.
