Icon2 Water in Tailights and Wet Hatch

I have a 1992 Aztec Green Pearl GSR, the taillights have water in them and I was just wondering if anyone knew how to dry them out and prevent water from getting in them, just wondering if there was a d.i.y on this or anything, I have heard that weatherstripping may work but not exactly sure where all to put this and not for it to look ghetto rigged. The hatch had a ton of water inside of it but it hadn't been there very long, I cleaned it all out and its not rusting but I don't want to have to deal with this forever, Not sure if i should replace weatherstripping on hatch on the car or if it could be comming through the taillights, also my buddy said one of the tubes from sunroof could be letting water in, none of my stuff in hatch got wet just had water in it. I will most likely climb in and see where the waters comming from but would silicone be good or weatherstripping be best to fix this. Any help is appreciated, also the back hatch is fogging up from the moisture, need this fixed soon.
Attached is some pictures of the taillights .

thanks man!, ill call acura/honda tomorrow and see what a set of tail lights gaskets will run me, would like to use gaskets if not outrageously priced. Any other alternatives because it is basically a just a foam gasket I believe.

Make sure you clean the body where they meet and dry out your lights.

Let em dry out overnight, lenses facing down in a warm room, after shaking the **** out of them, lol.

Id personally find some neoprene material and make your own gaskets, or anything else close to factory material. $100 for those gaskets is outrageous.

took off my tail lights (pain in my ***)

but they still have oem gaskets but they are soaking wet like a sponge can ring them out
but on bright side my step father is a hoarder of weatherstripping and silicone

also i have a heat gun to held dry everything out
do you think i should go this route something like this?

should i dry out the oem gaskets and keep them on or remove them.
i was more likely going to dry them the best i can and add more weatherstripping.

If they're wet and your taillights are wet inside I'd wager that they're not helping. I would remove them and put fresh weather stripping on.

That foam stuff doesn't look like its going to keep moisture out. Let the lights and gaskets dry, then use a little bit of silicone where they seal to the body and light.

Weather stripping does not work very well, what you need to get is a closed cell foam sheet about the same thickness as the stock gasket, [or a little thicker] use the old gaskets as a template and make new ones, I used a foam tool box liner, worked perfectly.

I used a hair dryer to dry out the lenses, then let them sit over-night, as mentioned, lenses down.

You can do a lot better on the gasket price...

Thanks for the help everyone I found some good material (hopefully) that will keep water out of the tail lights, My door light is flashing in sync with my left turn signal and my lights in cabin and hatch won't turn on I found a connector on drivers side tail light that isn't connected to anything but I don't see anywhere for it to go. Is it this connector needs to be connected or another problem I'm running into?

Well when I dried out the tail lights it still had some water drops in it but I had to put it back together for work. I don't think it's letting any water into my trunk but will the foggy and water ever evaporate out of the taillights or will I have to pull them out again?

Pulling them unless its summer is about the only way... Unless you wanna run heat on recirculate and then the ac for a long time but that's a shot at maybe.. Or a dehumidifier if you have one put in the car and let run over night.

Well I will probably pull them back out there is part of a leaf in one that needs to be cleaned out, I'm OCD like that. But as long as no water is getting into my trunk I'm going to wait till it warms up a bit.

What I did for my tail lights was ran some purple power (or any de-greaser) through my tails and sloshed it around with some water to get all the mold and gunk out, You may have to spray inside to get the tough **** off, then run water through it until there were no more bubbles (Again, make sure there isn't any more solution in there or it will leave a dry film inside and make your lights look like ****.) then drain the water out. You'll learn the trick to that quickly haha. Now go inside if you weren't already.

Then what you do is sit them upright and on a towel, and what i did was steal my sister's blow dryer set it on high/hot and propped it so it blew air through the tail light, in one side and out the other and switched sides when you check on it.

After about 5-10 minutes go check on it, flip it over and dump any collected water onto the towel and place the dryer on the other hole. And just keep switching until there isn't any water left in them.

I'd say it took about 30 minutes a light and it worked flawlessly lol

I pulled them back out again, and cleaned them out and they are drying out now, I will add my own gasket and hook them back up again. But what I have a question about, apologize in advance for description on iPhone will upload pics later but about sunroof hoses, on my drivers side, there was a big hose not hooked up to anything and a small hose not hooked up to anything, but there was also two drain plugs, just wondering if small tube goes into big one, or the big hose goes into the drain plug and small one does nothing. Will post pictures and hopefully it's clearer.

I've been wondering about resealing my taillights as well, big leak problem. If you still have water in your trunk there are drain plugs you can pull out. Lift the carpet in the trunk up. In each corner there is a hole with a rubber plug just behind the plastics. You might have to remove the rear interior plastic piece and pull the sides back to reach them. I left mine out for now so my trunk will stop flooding until I fix the lights!

The two hoses are for sunroof drain and a drain for your antenna. What you have done there is fine, just tape or seal it up. But its supposed to go in the bigger drain hole.
