Default Small Dual Exhaust pipes to quiet exhaust vs large one pipe exhaust

I've been looking into a new custom budget exhaust for my soon to be a non-vtec B20 (I'm guessing approximately 140whp+-) driven ek Civic and I want a quiet car without breaking the bank and without killing too much power so I'm going custom made locally (yes crush pipe).

My thoughts were that two smaller pipes (1 5/8" or 1 3/4") split after the 2.5" collector and run into one dual inlet and outlet muffler might quiet my exhaust more than just one larger exhaust.
Would this be true or not?

btw a two 1 5/8" pipes flow similarly to on 2 1/4" pipes and a 1 3/4" flows close to what a 2.5" would flow.
