Is it possible?
Let me paint the picture.
I am bolting the trans back up to the block.
There are four bolts on the bottom.
There are five bolts on the bottom, two to the block and three to the mount.
Now when I was taking the trans out, I missed the top bottom bolt to mount it to the block. I broke the transmission from the block with a chisel.
Now I have no problem with the four top bolts, and four of the bottom bolts.
The fith bottom bolt that connects the trans to the block will not get any closer than a half inch from the block.
Could I have bent the block and not known it?

You didn't bend the block, my guess is you mixed up the bolts because the aren't all the same length so you are using a long bolt in a shallow hole. Try using a different bolt.
I will when I get home. Im at work, and the thought came to me.
I am talking about the bottom bolt that connects the transmission to the block. It will grab the first couple of threads, but it never seems to tighten up. The doll pins line up, all the other bolts line up and close the gap, but for some reason this will not tighten up the gap, it leaves about a half inch.
