JB Welded bell housing
Took my trans out of the car to find this! How does it look? I theorize an axle snapped and broke it. Anyone ever done this and got away with a safely operating trans? The gears shifted like butter. On a side note, how much clutch do I have left on this disc? No scoring or ridiculous heat wear on flywheel or pressure plate, maybe a slight glaze. Any input is appreciated.

I would never Jb weld my transmission case for the simple fact that you can find a transmission case for cheap and I would rather fix it the right way. Also I know that I wouldn't have to deal with it again down the road. From the pictures I can tell that you did not clean the surface properly before applying the JB weld so my guess is that it is going to fail. Just my 2 cents.
Looks like someone pryed on the case really hard to get an axle out. Probably cracked the case. I would swap out the case and since you have it out...Now is the time to do it and not when it starts leaking later on down the line. Just my opinion.
I can't tell from the pictures how close the clutch is to the rivets. If it's close I'd just replace it since its out. And replace the case as well, never know when the one hard shift will split that case open at the weak point.
and i can use any hydro casing if im not mistaken, correct? this is a ys1 trans. i was just at a pick n pull for a few things n saw a ls motor and trans still hanging out.

on my 87 i had to RE-jb weld my trans after an unknown leak showed its head on the bellhousing near the axle just like that. i couldnt find a tranny for a while, worked just fine. id say run it! and just look for a new case in the mean time.
