Default Drag racing FWD's...

It's always been common knowledge that RWD's are usually the best to go with if you want a drag car, but most of the RWD's I want either raise my insurance way to high or are too pricy for me....being that I don't really wanna spend over 8000

So for me, I guess I'm pretty much gonna have to pick between a 92 - 95 Civic Hatch (my fav years) and a 2nd gen CRX.

I'd like to get one or the other running 12s. If I bought one I'd definately find one that was already swapped. probably the B18C1 for the Civic and a B16A2 for the CRX since I hear it is a pretty easy swap for the CRX.

the thing is since they aren't RWD I'm worried that it might be hard to effiently put one into the 12s or even mid to low 13s. What was your alls take on this?

Or should I just try and get a (91 - 93) 240SX since they are RWD and get a SR swap or either turbo the KA, since if I needed parts they would probably be easier to obtain.

I'd really like to see what your all's opinions are on this because I'm gonna probably be getting a new car in a few months after I have all the necessary research down...I really don't wanna spend anymore than $6000 or $7000 to obtain the car. I will of course spend more money on upgrades and what not as I get it I just don't really wanna spend all that much for the intitial car.

Thanks in advance...

Get the 180sx and SR swap or get a 5.0 mustang. Both are pretty cheap and parts for the 5.0 are very cheap and make very noticeable power.

nothing beats the 5.0 in the HP per $ ratio and its huge huge aftermarket for bolt on parts, pretty easy too make a 5.0 GT run 12s and you dont have to make any kind of engine swap to do it.

Buy a 82-95 Si, do a little tuning, bolt on slicks/I/H/E, bolt on ZEX kit, run 13.09 on stock injectors.

12's are just a set of injectors away, but I'm broke.

It's all about the 5.0. You can buy an 89-92 (87 and 88 cars don't take mods as well because they're speed density, 89-92 are maf. 88's are MAF if its a california car.) 5.0 for about 2-4 thousand. Spend 2 grand to bolt on some good heads/intake, 700 for full exhaust, 500 bucks for a fuel pump, injectors, FMU, 200 for maf, 600 for a nitrous kit, 200 bucks for gears, add your own tires and you're in the low 11's or 10's for about 6500 bucks. With the 1500 left over you could swap to a stout C4(3-speed auto) + a good converter and run in the 10's for sure, or spend a little more and get a tremec TKO (5-speed stick), just so you arn't breaking shitty stock T5's every 2 weeks.
