Default 2005 Accord EL-L w/ NAV

I have nearly 150,000 miles on the car and have never had the slightest problem with the NAV system. The car was tagged by a branch during Sandy which took out the rear window. While loading the car onto the tow truck the following Wednesday, I noticed the screen was reading Disk Error. I asked the shop to check this out and they advised that the door was open (it wasn't)

This is still happening over 2 months later and to correct this error, I pop open the trunk and press the door for the DVD closed - no noticeable click or anything and then it's usually fine. If not, a bump or 2 while driving, and the system boots up. But I have a feeling I'm on borrowed time

I do notice now that the Door Open button no longer does anything when depressed...?

My insurance company is telling me that the DVD drive is simply old and needs to be replaced.. surprised? They threw a couple TSB numbers at me - none of which apply to the accord (TSB 07-026 & TSB 08-051)

Is anyone aware of these DVD players simply going bad? I baby this car and nothing has even come close to hitting it (except that branch)

Any thoughts?

broken window+ hurricane force winds blowing water into the interior= you're lucky it only ruined the DVD/NAV

Winds that strong force water into every little nook and cranny. I'm surprised all the modules in the car aren't FUBAR.

lazlong - would you believe the costs exceeded $7,000? I'm still surprised they didn't just total the car

I do. Believe me I do. That's just like a flood damaged car- prone to weird, multiple electrical problems. I have a bad feeling, like you said, you're on borrowed time. Get what you can get for it and get a new car would be my suggestion.
