Default Car randomly dies while cruising

1989 Civic 4 door
b18 obd1 swap
Bone stock
Dc headers

Okay my car idles fine when on park.
But when driving around the neighborhood about 15-20 mph ill put it
to neutral and let it cruise it will just slowly die.
Even when cruising down a small hill it will drop idle and sometimes die or just go to normal.

When i stalled i can start it with no probs.
Ive noticed my breather box is not being used. It left open no pcv valve at all.
Vacuum port on the intake manifold is being blocked off.

Could this be the prob?
any
help appreciated

Sounds similar to my problem, I wound up having a really rusty fuel tank so the sock filter on the fuel pump was really clogged. But I'd start with fuel filter( what I did and found rusty gas in it...). I have also seen quite a few instances where the fuel pump/sock filter were changed and didn't get down to where the OE did, causing it to die when coming to a stop usually at half of a tank of gas or less. I know with the stopped up filter on mine it did good with a totally full tank. Also, the breather box you mentioned, are you referring to the air filter box. And if so, does it have an aftermarket air intake? As far as the pcv not hooked to your throttle body, on my b18 mine isn't either and runs fine, it jus has a bolt in a piece of hose on the tb. (I know I should hook it up it's easy but I have had a lot more serious issues to attend to lately). So is it worse when your gas drops? If so it probably is something to do with the pump/sock filter, but I would definitely start with the external fuel filter(not sure where yours is I know nothing about sedans).

It cant be anything dealing with my fuel tank.
Recently changed fuel pump and with new filter.
Recently changed fuel sending unit.
Drove to a steep heel and nothing happens.

Heres what my idle is doing when pumping the brakes. Definitely not normal

CEL codes?

Install the breather hose, PCV valve and PCV hose.

Post a picture of the disconnected vacuum nozzle.

Clean the IACV.

Adjust the idle speed to spec using the service manual procedure for the B18.

CEL is Code 41 o2 sensor.

Ill install that pcv valve and hose asap

Already tried cleaning IACV with brake cleaner

Adjusted the idle speed using the proper way from the manual but the idle doesnt change at all. It eithers stays at that certain spot or drops.

Oh as you can see in the pic its a b18b head with b18a block.

Okay did a little test and drive around the block.
And i noticed something. Car dies only going down hill.
I wanted to see if it'll die when im in gear but it doesnt.

When im in neutral and i stop at the hill car will hesistate like its losing gas then dies. I cant start the car Kept cranking but stopped cause didnt want to **** up the pump
Checked fuel pressure "On position" no fuel. WTF?!

So i just rolled into a flat surface and it starts right up.
Recently did the fuel filter and fuel pump.
I bought an airtex pump everything works fine on flat surface but on hills its having trouble.
Could it be the pump? the sock filter?

any help appreciated

if the sock filter isnt the same thats def it. some point straight forward, the one u need goes at a downward angle toward front of tank. u can look em up and itll say it works for ur car but it wont(on a hill or lower half of tank anyway). i read a ton on this when i had trouble, though mine was stopped up with rust. at advance auto parts the one i got was airtex fs129 and i have gotten down to <1 gallon with it.

I bought an airtex fuel pump and i was also thinking its the strainer facing the wrong way or position the wrong way.
Will that fs129 universal fit? i also found an airtex fs121
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Airtex-FS121...880e17&vxp=mtr

will this work? does it also come with the clip that holds it down to the fuel pump?

Also heres a video i took for you guys too see.
The 1st video is in my garage its in a small hill it doesnt look like a hill but its small hill car facing down. It has no fuel pressure and doesnt start. Looks like it isnt picking up fuel from the strainer. As i roll down to a leveled surface car starts.

This 2nd video is facing the other way upwards starts and idles fine with no prob.

im not sure of the differences if any, but it should point down and forward when installed.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/car-dies-when-gas-goes-below-1-4-tank-help-searched-3024291/ this gives a good idea of the prob, and suggests that fs121 strainer :-)

I had the very same problem with my fuel strainer. It was the wrong one for the CRX HF with the pump and tank that I replaced. It would not start after replacing the tank and pump no matter what even though I knew I had gas in it. It just would not pump at all. I installed a slightly larger tank and the strainer was not at the bottom where it should be. But I did not know that at first. Got another pump and still the same problem. I finally figured it was the strainer that was not picking up the gas that was in the tank. I did that by filling the tank all the way and then it started. I got to about a quarter tank, was going down a hill and it stopped dead in its tracks. It re-started when at the very bottom and then died again going down another hill. The tank still had gas in it but no fuel in the filter or in the line. The slightly larger tank was the problem and not really the strainer/pickup.

Pulled the pump out and replaced the strainer and has worked perfectly ever since.

Thanks steve. Wow a larger tank? they make that?
Well mine is still stock everything was working fine until i installed this pump with a shitty strainer.
I ordered the one that goes to the bottom

Got stuck today at just a slight small hill. No fuel pressure at all.
Had to roll down to a flat area quite annoying. going up hill is not a prob.
Maybe the way my strainer faces and angles.

Thanks again for the comment.

Hf had a 10 gal tank from factory instead of the 12 gal so our normal tank is bigger for him :D

So will the airtex fs121 will be better than the fs129?
I want the sock where it can reach to the bottom like oem did.

UPDATE: Bought the airtex 121 and EVERYTHING IS WORKING!!!!!!!!
No dying out, no signs off it either when going down hill or hard braking.

The fuelpump strainer i had in my car was facing up instead of down. SMH

thanks guys for the help. Hope this helps for the people who have trouble dying out on hills and hard braking.
