Default Best Bang for your bucks? (Suspension)

Hey guys I recently picked up a new gsr, from the looks of it, I need to replace one or two spring, I believe one of the tophats came loose also. I was just planning to replace my entire suspension since the previous owner have no clue as for what brand or specs they were. I'm hoping for best quality money can afford. Prefer something for $500-$900 for all four corners. Which is a little tight budget since I can probably only get used ones within that range. I came across the Koni Yellows/GC combo under sponsor market. Anyone want to put their input on those and how much they paid for? Thank you all very much!

I Personally Like F&F (Function and Form) for 700 (Prob. get a better deal if you look around) There stiff plus you can set the ride height.. check them out..

Thanks Solidis! I'm gonna try and look up reviews for F&F, especially if I can find a deal on them. I hope I have enough money left for Christmas and spoiling my car haha.

Edit: I just read a few stickies, according to a sticky I read, F&F is all for shiny looks, where as Koni/GC combo shines over them as far as ride and function go. Also, Koni/GC combo is within my budget.

Edit2: Progress CS-IIs aren't bad either and a bit cheaper than Koni/GC set up. Can anyone give me input on the 350f 350r spring rates on their GSRs?

I heard Koni yellows and ground control coil overs are a great combo.

It's going to be mainly daily driving someday track but that won't be anytime soon. I'm leaning strongly towards Progress CS-II. I've been reading many reviews and under sponsor marketplace, their rep covers a lot of questions answered. Thinking about getting their 350f and 350r maybe getting an extra 500r set for future track use? I would get Koni/GC set up but I would like to have money for Christmas and other parts.

I just paid for my Koni/Ground Control setup today through THMotorsports. I did alot of research on setups and havent read one bad thing about them. Another plus about going with that setup is that Koni has a lifetime warranty on their shocks.

This. Can't go wrong with life time warranty.

True that! I don't want to be selfish when it comes to Christmas since I have a lot of relatives. I'm willing to sacrifice and save some money by Progress for now and save up for Koni/GC later on.

Yeah I've also read nothing but good reviews about Koni/GC. Just wondering, how much did you pick them up for from THMotorsports? I got quoted about $915 shipped to SF Cali by the Logic Motorsports rep. I don't mind riding on Progress CS-II for now then eventually sell them for some money and get me some Koni/GC!

They are $799 shipped and you choose your own rates. Since you are in Cali you will have to pay tax on it so its going to be a little more. If I was you I would just skip on the Progresses for now and go with the Koni/GC setup. Why waste time and money on something thats just temporary?

I was hoping to have the extra money for a set of Kosei and Christmas gifts. But you're right I shouldn't waste money. I'll PM THMotorsports now. Guess I'll have to ask for extra hours a work! Hah

I have had my Progress CS-II's for a few months now and honestly love them.

They ride very smooth and have very little bounce and I'm have about an inch left of threads to go all the way down!

They have a HT special for $595. and their customer service is really great as well!

Yeah I read great reviews about them, but I might as well spend my money on Koni/GC since that's what I truly want in the end. I was always told to get what you want, if it's not what you want, don't settle down for them. Besides they provide lifetime warranty, which is a plus!

On another note, should I just order the set with shocks and coils and skip the tophats? I'll have to put my car on the lift and check if the oem ones are in good condition. Previous owner has some kind of suspension down there but so far I see a useless spring.

What I plan on doing is just getting top hats off of ebay. From everything I read they do the exact same as the Ground Control ones but at half the price. You can get all 4 for $120 on ebay. Heres a thread I found that talks about them.

Been riding on koni/GC for about a year now. These things are built very good, shocks more importantly. Rode on 450/350 for a while then upgraded to 550/450. Beast of a suspension can handle alot from totally dumping your car to hitting those corners hard. Check out the build thread to see more.

How was the ride on 450f 350r? I'm not trying to dump my car down to the ground with all these hills in SF. Just want about .05-1" gap between fender and tire to give it that snug look. 550/450 sounds like it'll be quite an earthquake driving in SF.
