Default mini me swap witch clutch and flywheel

Hey every1 I'm curently doing a mini me swap (b7 block z6 head) in my 88 hatch my. question is witch clutch and flywheel I need to use curently I have a 4spdd but will be putting in a 5spd with the new engine will the b7 flywheel work with the cable tranny's clutch any help is appreciated.

Correct me if im wrong... But as far as i know you will want the clutch and flywheel for whatever trans you are using

this is true.

Ok thanks ill check out the faq's I just wasn't sure if a a6 flywheel would bolt to the b7. The 5spd I'm getting was bolted up to a a6 so Im guessing ill go with that

If its an si trans, ive read that the '88 has different splines than the '89-91 si

yes the 88 is different and you will need a different clutch for it. but if i were you get the 89-91 it will just be easier in my opinion since they are more common.

I have no experience with 4 speed tranny's. But i know that 90-00 d series 5-speed splines are the same. I made the mistake of trying to use a 90-91 on an 89 and the spline count was different as well as the pressure plate not being able to fit onto the 89 flywheel. just use the right clutch for the right year of tranny and you know you'll be good.

the 4 speed and 5 speed manual trannies use the same clutch year to year.

88 uses a 21 spline 190mm clutch disc (or 200mm, rock auto show's both)
89 uses a 20 spline 190mm clutch disc
90-91 uses a 20 spline 212mm clutch disc
