Default installed aftermarket steerings, minor horn honk problem.

Installed my aftermarket steering wheel.

Setup: personal steering wheel, nrg short hub, nrg 2.0 quick release.

How I wired it: yellow/yellow, black/black to from short hub to base. Yellow/yellow from quick release to horn button, black wired to copper from quick release to horn button. Pinned to horn wire from back of hub. (Thought button would ground itself but it wouldn't until I ran a wire from the black wire in the quick release to copper of button, then it honked).

Problem: sometimes when I am in the process of re-attaching steering wheel, horn would sound... very minor until it is attached and locked onto the steering wheel then it stops. Has this happened to anyone?

You are using NRG products...it is a common problem and as far as my experience with it goes...has happened to everyone using these products.

Eventually the contacts will need an additional copper bracket or small tab attached as the contacts will wear bit by bit.

Been running this setup but with an NRG wheel for quite sometime with no issue. My horn will honk when I reattach the wheel ONLY because I'm doing it one-handed and happen to press on the horn when I do it. If this is a Personal issue I cannot speak to it.

I've never heard of that. Any sources? I've been looking it up and found nothing about that. I believe my set up is wired correctly so I don't know why its doing this. And all of. It is brand new.

It's not common.

at first I thougt my hands were on the horn button, but that wasn't the case when I kept testing it out. Sometimes when I spin the steering wheel to lock on, it'll honk, but if the steering contacts are level and straight and I just attach my steering wheel, it doesn't honk. Its weird. I've been searching this up and nothing, I also got a lock for security purposes and don't want it to sound everytime I reattach it and have people think i'm honking at them.

Like I said. Could be an issue with the brand of steering wheel although I have never heard of anything like this being reported.
