filling my gas tank is the extent of my car knowledge, it's pretty sad. anywho, i have to get my car smogged and this year i actually passed emission but i failed on the functional check. the technician said that my point on my timing belt cover is shaved off so he couldnt check the timing. what do i need to replace? how much would it cost? please help. i'm low on funds too so i'm looking for the cheapest solution just to get me to pass smog.

 

It's easy to replace. Just take off your top covers,harmonic balancer and lower cover.
To avoid all that ill give u a tip myself. I am a smog tech. Mark it yourself and before he smog it be honest with him. Tell him u took it to the dealership and the master tech marked it for u. Make sure u mark it best as u can. Thank me later

 

that sounds easy. how should i mark it? what should i mark it with? would they know that i did it even if i said i took it to the dealership? thanks in advance.

 

Nope. Find a pic n make sure its marked at the right spot or if u know your timing u can mark yourself while holding t gun. After u mark n before u take to smog station u must ask the guy before if its ok . Might have to go to more than one place
