JDM K20 Type-r into 2006 DC5 problems car shuts off after 5 seconds
Hi, I'm working on a 2006 RSX Type S, the engine had rod knock so we sourced a JDM K20 Type R for installation. We used the Stock Type-S harness on the Type R engine as well as the 2006 stock ecu that was already in the car. The car runs and will rev as much as you want it to but it shuts off after about 5 seconds. If we reset the ecu the car starts and runs indefinetly. I've tried changing both cam sensors as well as the crank sensor with the same results.
Anyone have any ideas, I'm all out?

Why are you using the stock type-s ECU with the K20A Type-R? The motors are completely different, that's probably why the car shuts off
Car hits a fuel cut. I have the JDM ECU but it doesn't work on an 06, the pinouts are different. The engine should still run without shutting off with the Type-S ECU.
Just out of curiosity why do you think the car shuts off with the Type-S ecu? Do you have facts on why it would do this or just guessing?
If I have to go Kpro ill do it but i'd rather find out what the problem is before I through more modifications to the problem.

Check the timing.... This is a common culprit.
You also need kpro. Honestly why pay thousands for a swap and skimp out on the most important part?

Its a customers car not mine. Why do you think timing would shut the car off? Have you heard or seen this happen before? I really don't think putting Kpro on this is gonna solve the problem.
I've searched this problem and found one person who had something similar but the thread ended with no answer.

i'm just baffled you're posting on something that could get you sued and unaware of the need for kpro when you use a completely different engine on that stock ecu
