1995 Accord LX engine fan stays on
My 1995 Accord LX (4cyl) engine fan will stay on or come on 5 to 15 seconds after I turn engine off. It will shut off after about 30 or 60 seconds depending on how warm it is. Is this normal for that model and year?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I fully understand how the cooling fans work on these.....Just this time of the year if thermo b is seeing temps of ~223.....I would be worried. Especially you "jabontke", I know exactly the temps where you live......when was the last time you used an IFR Temp reader and actually measured the temps of your car? Harbor Freight on Capitol/US1 just north of the beltline had them on sale for $20 not that long ago.
If this was July in NA then that is a different conversation
This describes the 4th gens....but the 5th are only slightly different.

When I cut my car off, the fan will turn on about 3 minutes later and then shut off at some point after that. My guess is when the thermostat gets hot enough from sitting, it grounds the fan relay (which apparently still have power in the circuit in my car) and the fans turn on. They shut off eventually and don't stay on ling enough to cause a battery drain in my car. My car is not too hot, I know my temp gauge works fine.
