2012 Accord-Coolant Smell
Anyone having an issue with a coolant smell from inside the car that comes and goes when the heat is on. Doesn't appear to be loosing coolant in res.
Drove me crazy. Had dash out of car and still can't find any signs of coolant leak at heater core etc. Anyone???

It's a 2012. Just take it to the dealership and have them check it out under warranty. If it has more than a few thousand miles maybe replace the cabin filter.
I haven't noticed anything similar to that, but it might be your cabin filter. I would suggest you to drive with the heater on at MAX and re-circulation ON and have the windows open to flush out any bad smells. Usually helps since I smoke in my car....
I have the exact same smell on my 2012 4 cylinder. It happened the day I bought the car. Dealer said it was a "coating" on the heater core that had to burn off. 1500 miles later its still happening. I thought @ first it was the new all weather mats I installed? Something is definitely up with it. It seems to be not as strong if I have it on recirculate? It also takes forever to reach the normal temperature range and it takes a long time to heat up. Brand new car? My 2001 CRV heats up faster than the 2012 Accord?
Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet? I have a 2012 that I just bought a few months ago and cannot figure it out. Dealership has been over and over the car but no reason for the smell.
I guess it's worth clarifying that I work at the dealership. We have been over the car in detail several times. If we could find the issue it would be fixed. I have sold many of these and driven them as my own personal cars since 2008 when they redesigned it. I have never had anyone come back with this problem or experienced it in any other car. There is few other instances of people posting this and they all are 2012's only. I was just hoping some that posted this found the problem and fix. We can replicate it easily since its everytime the car warms up. We just can't find where it's coming from. No leaks. System holds pressure. If its losing any coolant it's so minimal that is hard to measure because of normal temp variances.
