Default My first EF 1988 lx sedan build thread

I just picked up a 1988 ef sedan a couple days ago and thought I would share it with the forum.

I picked up this clean title ef sedan 246k on the cluster for a 1997 acura cl with no front bumper and a bad transmission.

Lets start off with the pros about this car

Clean title
Overall clean shell minus the fenders
STR504 wheels with brand new tires (konig candy reps)
Came with another set of clean fat fives
extended tophats
b swapped (b18b)
skunk 2 short shifter
all in fab extended shift ****
ram air intake
aftermarket intake manifold
poly motor mounts
no leaks and almost perfect interior
good tags

Now for the cons...
Primered Front end
jank *** lip thats falling off
side moldings are in the trunk...
terribly rolled front fenders
riding on ebay coils with no sleeves... smh
motor is burning ridiculously large amounts of oil (1qt about every 60 miles LOL)
still obd0

Overall the car is in great shape. I just bought a new b18b longblock from a friend for 200 bucks and I know the motor is in good shape so I cant complain about that!

This is my first ef that ive ever owned ive had 3 eg's and an em1 and im already in love with the car. Ive always had a thing for the ef sedan.

My goals for the car are as follows

1. replace the tired motor with the new b18b
2. fix the fenders, and repaint the front end.
3. one piece coils, gsr lca's and a gsr rear sway bar. (reccomendations?)
4. probably a different set of wheels (looking into finding a second set of stance mindsets) I'm a wheel ***** so I cant stick with one set for too long.
5. change up the interior?

I am looking for feedback as ive never built an ef before, and anything you would like to comment on feel free.

Here's some pics of the car.

the last car I built was a 1993 ej1 with a b20z turbo. I basically want to do the same thing to this ef but i think i am going to leave it all motor this time around.

Here's my last build

Ill be posting more pictures of the car in the next couple days. I decided today i should make another build thread. Like I said any feedback is welcome, I love the hate and I also appreciate compliments!

Thanks man, idk what it is about the ef sedan but they just have a cool style about them when slammed and on some nice wheels.

Last night I went and weighed the car at a local truck weighpoint. and it came out to 2150 with a full tank of gas. Im hoping to get it to 2000 flat at least as this seems pretty heavy for an ef. My ej1 weighed only 50 lbs more than that before I started stripping it down.

An update today: i almost got stranded driving home from working out today as my clutch wasn't disengaging. I had to limp it home turning it off to put it in gear and what not. Once I got it home I couldn't find anything wrong with it so I adjusted the clutch cable, as it was set all the way loose and it works fine now. Only thing I can think of is maybe the adjustment threads are stripped or something... Oh well it works for now.

I will be picking up my new motor in the next couple days and I hope to be swapping it in next mon-tuesday.

Heres a pic of it last night, at the weigh station.

And some pics in the driveway after I fixed the clutch cable.

Showing the Damage to the fenders. They somehow look worse in person

The rear end

And the swap. The bay is actually surprisingly clean but I will be doing a going over when I pull this swap out next week.
