Default White smoke/brown gunk

Hey guys, I have a b16a Crx, and today I realised when pushing on the throttle white smoke comes out of the exhaust, not to mention this brown gunk mixed with water(maybe just rust) but a decent amount of water/brown gunk, not to mention white smoke is coming out.The smoke smells really sweet/gassy, but the gas part maybe a result of me running rich. So I am worried. I think it maybe the head gasket, but I am hoping it isn't. I don't seem to be losing any coolant and I am not overheating. Any idea's? I am throwing a check.

That head gasket is likely blown, especially since u have the classic combination of white smoke and. Brown gunk out of your exhaust. It's probably not rust.

Sweet smelling exhaust is radiator fluid.

How does your oil look?
Chocolate milkshake?
That's water mixed in your oil.

is the brown gunk in the radiator or are you saying the oil looks milky?

white smoke = burning coolant
brown gunk = water/oil mixture

if your oil is milky and you dont yet have the oil in the radiator, flush your oil, torque your head bolts down, get new oil,add a little oil thickener.fixed my white smoke problem anyways..

if oil is in your radiator, youve definetely got one of the shittier headgasket problem...

Juiced, if you have water in your oil, then you more than likely have exposed the water to oil as well. It might not be as visual as water in oil, but you should flush the radiator as well.

What is this oil thickener you speak of?
Sounds like you are dodging a heat seeking bullet.

its an additive at autozone.I think it's actually an oil "lubricant",but its really thick.I dunno,i used it after having a smoke problem after installing a brand new headgasket.I added a little and the problem went away, been fine for years.

i agree you COULD have a 2 way mixture,i dont neccessarily agree that you WILL have a 2 way mixture.you should flush the radiator to be safe, sure.

This is a temporary fix,no doubt.Just my .02 cents on what the Op could do..

IMHO,youre really taking a gamble when you use ANY additive LOL.

Sorry for the late reply. Oil is fine, I bled the rad, threw in some distilled water(so I don't have to waste antifreeze) because the exhaust litterally dumps out water(in the higher rpms 5k plus) and it pretty much just spits out water/coolant and it looks like it is brown. The white smoke also only appears once the engine has gotten to "normal" running temperature.

Forgot to also mention, just incase this maybe a issue, recently replaced the temp thermostat, and radiator. I removed the charcoal canister/dash-pots. I also have some DC headers(I doubt this would matter) I also seem to notice my exhaust doesn't have a "weep hole" could that be why the water is building up(and rusting the exhaust) and all that brown gunk is coming out. I will post pictures later, as it is dark right now and they would come out bad.

EDIT:No oil in the Rad

So you have water coming out your exhaust?

Either you cracked a sleeve or you have a blown headgasket.

Yes, it is coming out of the exhaust, and I hope it's the head gasket, if it's the sleeve, I need to make up my mind on Ls/V or b20/V

EDIT: If it is the sleeve, you should come help me convert to OBD1(wiring isn't my thing) as you probably live 10 minutes away from me haha.

I "should" avoid Woodland Hills mall traffic as much as possible!
Are you planning to get an OBD1 jumper if you do go the route of a swap?
Or are you going for hardwired? - cut plugs and wiring nightmare.

Where I live around victory/valley circle isn't too bad, but I rather go jumper and just wire in any sensors needed, if it is the sleeves, but if it is just the HG I will replace it next week when I have time to take the head off and just do a rebuild while I have it torn apart.

EDIT: So the pictures I promised. Sorry for the ugliness my little Rex is sanded down and I was going to primer, but now I have my issue.
The brown "gunk" this is about a day or 2's worth, not all at one time.

The insdie, and why I thought it maybe just rust

The water/gunk it spits out after going past 4-5k rpms.

The inside while wet(sounds wrong)

top off your rad to the max, then rent a compression tester. take the shrader valve out of the hose that you screw into the cylinder, and hook compressed air up to it. if you have a leaking cylinder it'll start to bubble out of your radiator

I topped off my rad fluid to the max and then as I rev bubbles appear, when I don't rev no bubbles, there is no oil in my rad no water in my oil , is it still a blown head gasket ?

If you are losing water and it's coming out your tailpipe, then something has been compromised. This is usually a headgasket, but it could be something worse like a cracked sleeve.

I still see water in the rad, not losing any of it but I do notice the water coming out of the tail pipe, with the idling of white/greyish smoke. After the car is warmer. No oil in the rad no water in the oil, so wierd, I'm using 5/30 as well in this car, I hope it's not the sleeves , that's a big job and don't have time for that.
