Ok, crx b18b1 gsr trans, pick up guy to head to work and its starts acting like it wants to die when u try to take off. (I did get on it this morning but nothing over 6500) Then I get going as I see I just need to rev it before i go to get to work, but if u shift too early it gets sputtery too (below 1800 or so it seems). Then I go to pull onto interstate and it gets to 3250 and just starts lunging...until I shift, then 3250 again up to 5th gear, even at 60 mph which is about the point its to 3250 once it gets to that number...lunging/sputtering. I finally make it to the road for work, get almost there and it loses all throttle response until it dies. Now it will turn over but seems like the motor shudders as it does I can feel it shaking abnormally hard. Please tell me someone has an idea whats going on. It has been smelling like it runs rich if that gives any indication of anything. I will try to answer any questions asap during the day, I dont wanna leave it out here, but depending on the severity I may have to
Im going to go pull it up to our parking lot so I can check anything during the day also. Thanks in advance for any help.

 

Also if it matters, it would go past the 3250 when slowing down if I downshifted, but I didnt give it any gas at that point to see if it sputtered.

 

Sounds like what happened to me.
Check to make sure the nut that holds your rotor to the distributor didn't come off.

 

That's what it is! Well, mine just decided to fall apart inside but thanks for the help man. Also though, small amount of oil inside dizzy, normal? Thanks again so glad its somethin simple.

 

No problem man.theres an o ring on the end of the dizzy that goes into the motor, that could worn, causing the oil to seep in
