This girl needs some HELP! Automatic 5th Gen H22 Swap
My guy friends and I are stumped! I have some questions about my H22 swap that I just did. New motor turned right over and ran fine for the first hour it was in. Ran thru all the gears and took it up to about 40mph and all was great! Then the next day it started acting up. So heres my problems....
1. fluctuating idle (between 2000 and 4000rpms) and speedometer is fluctuating as well. I cleaned out the IACV and that didnt work. It calms down to 1500 to 3000rpms after it warms up a bit but sometimes once I put it in gear it stalls out
2. On the dash...when its cranking the D4 light comes on and then turns off once its started. Also the park and 1st gear are not lighting when the car is running or when key is turned on accessory.

Given that it stalls out occasionally, I'm going to go with a vacuum leak. You should be able to unplug the IACV with the car running and not have it stall if your idle is set correctly on the throttle body. Bouncing speedo could be a bad ground or a bad sensor.
Did you guys replace the lights in the dash? It could be as simple as burned out bulbs for the P and 1st gear lights. Flashing D4 could be a bad ground. Since P and 1st don't come on though, it could be a bad sensor I suppose. I don't have any experience with auto's though, so can't help you much there.

It is not a vacuum leak. That has already been determinedl. I did clean out the IACV but I think I may just swap that out. No we didnt replace the lights yet bc they were working fine the first day we started it up. I am going to go ahead and try that tho. Ill try anything at this point

I went back and forth about doing a manual swap and I just didnt see the point right now. I dont think its the tranny having the issue bc it goes into gear fine. It seems to be something electrical. Its gotta be something stupid lol
If the lights are good, it is most likely a ground issue, especially considering your other electrical problems. Unplug your IACV and run your car and see what it does before you buy a new one.
