Replacing Speedometer Cable DA Integra
Hi i have a 1992 Aztec Green Pearl Integra GSR and like alot of DA's the speedo cable has lost its lubrication and from the years of driving squeaks like crazy and sounds like birds are chirping. I ordered a new speedo cable and am planning on replacing it but i was wondering if anyone knew about a write up with pictures on exactly how to do this. I checked on g2ic and they had a teg tip about it and some write ups but no pictures. Also what do you think would be the best lubricant for the cable to prevent futher squeeking in the cold.
I don't know of a write up or have pictures but have pulled a few cables and lubed the one on my DA once. It is fairly straight forward.
Step 1: is remove the cable from the VSS at the Transmission. This is necessary to give yourself the slack to pull the cluster. You may need to pull your intake to give yourself some room. The cable can be removed by relieving the pressure on the C-clip that is encased by the rubber boot. If you can get away without removing the boot and clip completely, you will save yourself a lot of hassle later as the new cable will snap into the C-clip when you push it in.
Step 2: Remove the steering wheel and dash bezel. I believe the steering wheel nut is a 19mm. There are 6 screws that I remember from the bezel. 2 in the cluster arch. 2 accessible once you remove the lower dash panel, one or two under the AC **** cowl, and one under the secret cap to the right of the heater control buttons(remove cap with a razor blade or other thin flat object)
Step 3: Remove the 4 screws that hold in the cluster. Pull the cluster toward you and turn it to your left. Reach behind and feel for the tab on the cable. Squeeze the tab and remove.
Step: 4 Make sure the cable is free from the hook in the engine bay. Feel around under the dash and remember what the cable runs around. Don't forget the route. Slide old one and and new one in.
Installation is the reverse of removal.
P.S. Don't lose the C-clip.
If you get in a bind, text or call me. I am always willing to help out a fellow AGP DB2 owner. 845threetwoone3369.
Here is a picture of the boot, C-clip and cable. Also let me know if you need parts as i have a ridiculous supply.

its already been said, but dont lose that little *** c-clip. it's really easy to make disappear, and if you don't have it, the cable will pop right back out of the speedo sensor.

I replaced my speedometer cable and hooked everything up it is plugged into the tranny and the back of the cluster but when i start driving it, it will work until like 20 mph then it starts jumping like crazy. if it wasnt connected on one of the sides it shouldn't work at all but it only works until like 20 mph. I have the c- clip into the transmission and not sure what it could possibly be. Please help need this fixeddd!

spray some PB blaster into the cable, and MAKE SURE it's fully seated into the VSS on the tranny side. it's tricky sometimes...
