Default Few Question's, need some advice

Okay, so to start things off YES I DID USE THE "SEARCH BUTTON", yes i did google around, before some ******* flames me about that.

Now that, that is out of the way. I was wondering, what are some free stuff(When i see free i mean, cosemetic/clean or $0-$10, basically stuff to do between orders). A little background on what i am going to be working with, i'm getting an ek hatch soon(Bought an Eg sedan for a communter for RETARDED CHEAP, dad takes it to work now), and i already have my build planned out, priced, from EVERYTHING from the headgasket, down to the bolts in my headliner, every single thing is planned out for the build without doubts. Well, went a little off topic there, but what is some thing's that i can do? Switch to synthetic oil? tranny & Motor oil. Clean the car obviously, pull carpet to get ready for new carpet ect.. you get the point. Would like to keep this thread clean and flame free(If that is possible). Also please don't talk to me like i'm uneducated in cars lol just want some advice on it(Always room to learn) i know a lot but like anyone else i don't know everything.

Thank's in advance - Maurice

What the **** man...use the stupid search bar! Its not hard!! What are you, retarded?!

Just kidding haha. Im having a tough time realizing what you want to do. Increase performance? Better looks? Will this be a track car, or dd? I think theres a thread somewhere around here specifying cheap or free stuff to do.

Not even going to lie, i just read the top part and turned on CAP's lock xDD, it will be daily'd until i am done with the car/close to done, then it will be a weekend car/showcar, and i WILL on occasion's track and drag this car(I actually made a part list, JUST FOR TRACKING IT) i know the first thing that comes to mind is (WHERE'S ALL THIS MONEY COMING FROM?) the day i turn 18, i start working at gallo 20-25$ an hour, and already work, and i am a HUGE, HUGEEE car enthusiast.

Make a small list with bullets? Maybe if there is enough info, i'll make a huge thread helping everyone and get it sticky. What i mean by the list, hear i'll give you an example

- Pull out seats
- Throughly clean carpet with (This product)
- Put seats back in
- Clean dash with (this product) or (Take it here)

Like i said, i'll take ALL THE INFO and make a very detailed thread about it and try and get it sticky.

no no no, i'm talking about cosmetic, and cleaning stuff, like boring the head, or draining the tranny, i have EVERY SINGLE PART you can thing of on the car, listed. And i've been a fabricator for about 6-7 years now(6 of those years in an advanced class) so there will be some custom fabricated work in the car. I know every single thing i want for my car, i just want to do some cleaning/stuff i can do to the car in spare times, Like Bleed brakes,Bore the head, Wire-wheel sparkplugs until new ones, Switch to synthetic oil, pull seats and clean under then ect.. you get the point? i don't as much need to know "What to buy" but more on small tips that the common person doesn't do to there car. Hope you understand what i mean.

Maurice... Find a maintenance manual online and download it.
Get to know your car inside and out.
Be prepared to get flamed for asking redundant questions..
You are posting on a public forum people will give their opinion.
Expect that you wont like what everyone says.
Trust me everything you want to ask... has been asked.
Tech tip... when you do search google use honda-tech in the search string.

btw I worked at gallo once upon a time.

Alright, i'll download one, and i know i have one laying around in my closet somewhere i'll open it up and start studying. Believe me i WILL KNOW MY CAR INSIDE AND OUT, you know your a car enthusiast, when you work on your parents car everyday, do simple stuff like Wash/Clean once a week, pay for synthetic oil, do the oil change for free, rotate the tires ect without being asked just to do it, it's good experience. But thank you for the advice, and yeah i should be a fabricator at Gallo pretty soon here. One of the main bosses/Representative was talking about 25$ and hour starting. 50 hour weeks. Sounds good to me, not going to complain with that rate. lol

Fabricator where at the winery? The place is pretty big.
What kind of fabrication do you do?
Thats not bad money for out in the valley, and just starting out

More good advice... Focus on one part of the car at a time.
Take that part to completion and then move on.
Dont bounce around from inside to outside.. you'll end up spending more money and it will never be completed the way you envision it.

I could literally teach you the basic's of welding in 2-3 days, and having being able to weld parts in a week, then it's just practice after that. My teacher said, HIS EXACT WORDS "I swear to god your a welding prodigy, HOW do you do it?" the teacher has been welding for 45-50 years and he asks me for advice here and there. I don't know why i've been so good at it, but it's like the back of my hand to me, and i'm GREAT at teaching it. But yeah, the day i get my EK hatch(Still getting it) i'll be striping it down to the bone, and get to work. I'll have a bunch of time on my hands, so i'll take Hd Tripod pic's and keep everyone updated. Been waiting to build an ek hatch for YEARSSSS, just never was allowed to have a shell in my garage(Had to prove to my dad i can work on cars lol)

Also i just finished building a Brush rake as a school project for the company (CAT) HUGE company, this is what they look like http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl...9,r:0,s:0,i:87 The black piece that is on the front of the tractor, i build a more complex version of that, Sand blasted it, primered it, and painted it. The cat person that came down HIS EXACT WORDS"You didn't weld this, there is no way, a machine did this. It's too nice there's no way" I LITERALLY HAD TO PROVE TO HIM I DID IT lol, i'll take some pics of it, and some work i did on an EM1 and eg hatch so you can get an idea of my work

I am not trying to put you on blast, but I think I gave you what you wanted. I understand that you want to know some small things you can do in the spare time, so I gave you some.

You can:
wire tuck the engine bay
Change fluids
General Tune Up
Upgrade Suspension

All of this you can do in a weekend and still have to car running by monday. I was just trying to give you a more detailed list.

What i'm trying to ask for is things to do, to help the car, NOT UPGRADES, trust me i know every single upgrade i want without a doubt. **** i've already bought parts before i even got the car. I know simple stuff like wire tucking and stuff, when i'm asking is... HERE'S AN EXAMPLE,(Already know this just using it as an ex.)

-Bore and deck the head
-Take off the valve cover, and clean it up(Because it does ....)
-Take out your spark plugs and clean them with a wirewheel(Until you get some new ones
-Check your master cylinder to make sure it's full and has no leaks
-Check your oil to make sure it's not low
-If you haven't done so yet, bleed your brakes
-If you have some tranny oil laying around, drain the oil in your car, and replace it
- Use this home remedy to clean your headlights, works great(Peaches, or some random *** **** that works that not the typical person knows)
-Run your engine (Make sure this and that is not happening), rev the engine(To make sure ___ and ____ is not going bad.

You see what i'm getting at? Not one of those things is an upgrade or a part, just things you can do to the car while your waiting for parts, like clean your car, i'm just asking to see if anyone knows any more "In depth" or "Advanced" things i can do to make sure my car is in tip top shape. Not trying to be a dick or a know it all, just trying to make sure you understand. Hey, no matter how much you know there's always room to learn! (:

Take the entire car apart clean everything and put it back.

Seriously it is a pretty vague question, you could focus on single sections and work with them.

Interior: inspect, strip, clean, install.
Wiring: replace all wires with new ones and label them individually or get matching colors and also tuck everything.

etc.

1.) Find the power button on your computer.
2.) Turn it off.
3.) Go look at your car, (well when you get it) and anything you see messed up, fix.

I know I'm coming off as a dick, but this will get you ALOT farther.
GL!

PS.. DoctoRake is on to something here!
