Default Losing power during acceleration + Jerk

Hey, just bought a 2002 civic hx and have been driving it around for about 40 miles and randomly it just started to lose power as I would accelerate. I just took my foot off the accelerator and then press again and it would continue to accelerate fine. It seemed to be doing this only once the engine became warm and in 2nd and 3rd gear above 2,500 rpm.

A couple days later of the problem being just annoying, I took it to work and back and on my way home it got really back and the car went into limp mode, every time I tried to accelerate the car would jerk terribly.

My brother has an 02 Civc LX that I can switch parts on to find out exactly which one isn't working right but I need to know which part to switch! (and if the parts from an HX can be switched to an LX)

My car is an 2002 Civic HX with 94,000 miles, 5 speed manual transmission. Just bought it so no clue what has been done for maintenance or replaced parts.

Any thoughts would be helpful!

If its in limp mode you mote than likely need a replacement ecu, but you need to figure out what caused it to go into limp mode so the problem doesn't persist when you replace the ecu. Where there any cels before it went into limp mode?

Start with this. Check for codes. If you find them, post them here. Also check the freeze data, if you're able to.

What other symptoms are there? Anything going on with the electrical system?

It could be a number of things, so you're going to have to start doing some troubleshooting rather than throwing parts at it hoping one of them fixes it.

My car did this , the car would lose power , jerk and the MAL light would blink once . Thought It was electrical problems. It was the spark plugs.

damn...
I am having this exact problem right now.It happens after driving for a little while ,usually.randomnly ,while accellerating ,it will just pull back hard and stop going. Then when i let off and accelerate again, it corrects itself and accelerates as normal..
if i keep driving,it will eventually get worse and worse until the car will not accelerate without constant problems..
shut it off..wait about 10 minutes..starts up fine!drives fine enough to get home quickly.
I have replaced many things.
It never throws a code!

i recently caught it throwing a tps code, but im not sure if that's just another problem..
I have been thinking it is a fuel problem, because my fuel pressure drops pretty significantly when i hit the throttle..

Yeah. I will get it scanned this weekend and post the codes.

JuicedUpRice, it sounds like we have the exact same thing happening, what have you replaced so far?

Before these problems started I scanned my car with my brothers code reader and these codes came up but the car was driving fine so I didn't think much of it. I still havnt been able to read the codes since it went into limp mode.

Here are the codes from before:
PO141
P1298
P1164
P1130

not neccessarily attacking this problem, ive replaced starter, plugs, wires, the entire distributor, tps, cleaned iacv/fitv,new adjustable fuel pressure regulator, injectors and o rings, almost every gasket/o ring, all fuel lines and vacuum hoses, tightened my exhaust(had a exhaust leak)...probably more stuff i just cant remember..

my problem comes and goes as it pleases, mostly after ive been driving it for 20 minutes or so.
I have looked at my fuel pressure, and it decreases by about 10psi when i accelerate.to me,that is not right.im pretty sure its not supposed to do that.its screaming bad fuel pump to me,but im not ready to dish out the 150+ they want at autozone..

if it is not the fuel pump(for me anyways),i sure am stuck in a rut and have no idea where to look next..im running out of things to replace lol.

i know my fuel pump and my fuel filter are 21+ years old now so...
