Yeah it's a better motor - but DOHC ZC's are getting more and more difficult to find healthy ones.

The SOHC ZC gives you about 10 (dohc gives about 20 more) hp over the stock A6 motor, and it's pretty much identicle - no wiring changes.

IMO, both aren't that great anyways, you're better off getting a b series motor, or sticking with the USDM D series (preferably Z6 or Y8 - vtec)

My buddies runs right with mine.
Him: SOHC ZC
Me: DOHC ZC
1/8, he normally got the jump on me, but then I'd real him and start to pass him.

I'm still thinking about doing something to the D16A6 over the winter though.
88 Teg pistons, plus 95 EX head, and cam.

Right on - that'd be a killer setup.

Or you could just bore out the cylinders a tiny bit, put slightly bigger OEM A6 pistons in there, then slap on a Y8 (96-00 Ex) head. This way you'll have a 11:1 compression ratio. I'd totally recommend getting a mild p&p job on the head as well.

With the proper fuel delivery you'll be above 140 horses - with a TON of torque.

i know i askin to get flamed but oh well

if its getting hard to find a good ZC then its getting hard to fing a good B series they both came out in 1988.

mr todd what are you running wtih your setup? you have a D but you tell the guy to get a B?. you know as well as i do you can build a B smokin D series cheaper than a B swap. yeah a B will run low12s easier and more reliably than a D but cmon how many of us are really gonna get there?

if a port polish milled head and some cams will get you 140hp on a SOHC then what will it get you on a 130 hp DOHC? a B16 *** whoppin.

anyway i beat to many VTEC swaped cars to count (track and street) mabye it was drving skill who knows?

im not tryin to be a *** but there nothin wrong with a ZC i love mine
mine smoked when i put it in but my other 7 freinds that got ZC swaps had 0 problems ....had to rant, i just hate it when people say ZC arent that good,

14.7 stock (smokin ***) DOHC ZC std hatch

no ones saying that, its just if you already have a d16a6 why swap to a ZC. might has well build the d16a6, but I think people can do whatever they want. Creativity is nice.
