Default 04 auto lx into a 05 auto ex

I've been searching online if the motors/ecus are different but im finding that they are the same im gona go tomorrow to pull a ignition/key lock cyclinder off a 04 lx auto to put on my 05 ex auto and i'll put the lx ecu on it as well so that i wont need honda to reflash it, does any1 know if this will work or will i still need it to be flashed by honda? what about the vtec and o2 sensors?

Your immobilizer ring has to match your ECU. If they don't pair properly, you'll need a re-flash at Honda.

As for swapping in an LX ECU, you're not going to get as good of performance from your '05 EX engine using that ECU. In fact, you may run into issues with poor running performance.

i was planning on taking that off too since the guy is selling me everything for stupid cheap, as far as performance goes do you mean the vtec engaging? or the motor not starting at all cuz the switch? as long as it starts up i figured i can take it to honda swap ecu's and have them flash it to the 05 ecu (worst case senario).

All i really need is the key lock for the ignition but i was going to replace the whole cylinder so i dont brake anything inside taking it out.

?? if the immobilizer ring does NOT match the ecu it wont start or will it start but not let things engage like vtec, o2 sensor??
*also it is my wifes daily so its not raced but it is driven alot once it gets fixed*

The immobilizer has nothing to do with VTEC or your O2 sensors. It will prevent the engine from turning over, at all.

As for the ECU, its not tuned for an EX engine (which runs different then a non-VTEC engine). So, you're going to be putting extra strain on the engine by running the non-VTEC ECU... if you even get it started.

You could just swap the transmission itself, and re-utilize the existing harnesses and ECU. I don't know why you're trying to swap all the other equipment, along with the transmission.

Will the key return to the removal position, and just not allow itself to be pulled out when in the off/removal position?

Well, you're getting a CEL because the ECU isn't designed for that type of engine... plain and simple. Have it scanned to get a code for what the issue may be.

As for removing the key; are you sure that the car is in Park and the steering lock isn't engaged?

yes i checked that its in park and the lock isnt engaged at all, and no it wont even go to the 0 it stays on 1 aux so the car cant completly shut off. but i disconnected the battery and the key came out no problem so should i put the ex ecu on and get it flashed? then will the key come out do you think the ecu is the problem?

on my wifes 05 civic ex i replaced the key cylinder and put lx ecu in the ex yes i know it wont run right but tomorrow im taking it to get the key flashed to the ex ecu but why wont the key come out until the neg battery terminal is disconnected? is something wrong with the key cylinder?

Default honda techs couldnt fix this so now what do i do

2005 civic EX
i replaced the ignition cylinder cuz the key slot was broken BUT i replaced it with a 04 lx and i also put in the ecu from it so it would start right up...i drove to honda and swaped the lx ecu with the original ex ecu so they could flash the key to the ex ecu. They couldnt do it they said it needs "pmc to be registered". along with that the key wont come out until the neg batt terminal is removed....what do i do???

order a new key clyinder with ecu all from 05 ex same model and everything that way i dont need to get the key flashed?? is there anything i can do to bypass any of this

Drive it to the dealership with the LX ECU in, swap the ECU's in the parking lot, and have them re-match the Immobilizer system.
