RPM rise after long drive
today my rpms would go from 1k to 18 k and do that for about 30 seconds, any idea why, i checked vac lines couldnt find any broken, gonna replace them anyway
check ure fast idle valve inside the throttle body.. its a little sensor that sits in there.. there a wax pellet that sits in there and as time goes on the wax pellet falls in and creates a vaccum leak.. you can either block it off or change it.. but the part is close to 200 bucks.
The FIT valve is not a sensor, it is a valve and it is mounted under the throttle body. The ball does not fall, it can however become out of adjustment, in this case the op would need to open the end plate of the FIT and adjust the plunger accordingly.
There is a very helpful DIY in the FAQ that covers both the IACV cleaning and FITV adjustment that should cover high or surging idle conditions.
